View Full Version : 310 Sun Sports - What to look for?

I am new to Club SeaRay and am looking into 310 Sunsports (1990-1994). I was wondering what people could tell me about this model. What can I expect? What should I look for in the boat? Do these boats have stringer problems like many of the Sea Rays from the mid to late 80's? Anything good and bad. I personally do not know anyone that owns a sun sport so I am at a loss for who to ask. Any info woulod be awesome. Look forward to feedback.
Also, if anyone is selling one that is credible, please pass the info along.

There is a guy on my dock selling a '91 310SS; it looks to be well-cared for, but I can't speak to its underlying structural condition. I'll get the phone number off of the FSBO card when I go to the marina tomorrow. It is a great looking boat, white and wine-red.

That would be great. I would appreciate it.

stringers are usually good, its the foredeck that you want to check, water would enter through the horn and the deck hatches.
This would actually be something to make sure you have checked for ANY balsa cored boat.
this is actually a 31SS in this picture, water entered through the horn on the deck.

Good to know. Looks like the resin didn't fully impregnate the cloth either. I know that is a common problem a while back which also lead to delaminiation. I have redone a 1985 34 DA and a 1988 39 EC so I have seen the worst of what Sea Ray can produce. All that aside, I still think they build a heck of a boat for the money. Both of those boats were purchased with the intent to gut and restore. My family would not trade any of the memories for the world. I am looking for something a little different now and I really like the functionality and lines of the 310 SS. Any more info that you could give would be great.
