Hey all!
Finally got her wet yesterday and just got back tonite. Unfortunately, I see that the screens on my camper top are about done, along with the plastic glass. The admiral advised she can fix - and now I searching frantically for camper top screen material. I use Rochford Supply for everything else; they don't have screen.

Anyone out there have a source for this stuff, or any ideas where I can pick it up in the Western NY area?

Thanks, and Happy Boating!

I finally brought home our boat today and started going through it. I found the one of the hinges on the lift up door next to the coat locker is broken. The hinge is adjustable and allows the cabinet door to lock into a slide and had a screw to tighten it. I've looked in a catalog at a the boat yard and the Defender website. Does anyone know where I can find these hinges?? Thanks, Bob

I've been using the AJ some this spring...I think about 10 hours thus far, and I've come to several conclusions.

1.) I love the room and the ride! With 10' of beam and at probably 8500lbs loaded it's like my old 32 Wellcraft Express as far as ride quality is concerned.

2.) Even with a single 5.7, it's not exactly a fuel miser...I run it at 3000 rpm off the secondaries but it still has a pretty healthy fuel burn rate.

3.) It's friggin' SLOW...that's been okay so far but we have yet to get caught in weather or trying to outrun a summer T-storm.

With these things in mind, I'm wondering if a repower from the single 260 to either a single 454 (365hp) with a B3. Or my mechanic has been recommending converting it to twin 260s. While this sounds ridiculous, his quote to do it is not as bad as I thought it would be...but I'm sure the fuel burn would be bad...although I might actually get somewhere in exchange for the fuel burn!

-OR-

I've also thought about selling and buying an 80s 340 Sundancer. Yes, the fuel burn and speed would be bad...but it offers AC and a gen...and room. It would probably be comparable in price to what I'd have in this AJ by the time I add another engine or a 454/B3 setup as well as the extended platform I want.

So someone tell me I'm nuts...or right, or what do you think?

I do like the AJ, and I'm not looking for a speed demon, but it's big cruiser slow without the accoutrements...although I'd still run it slow most of the time, having the ability to get up and go would be nice.

I have to replace the set of taps in the galley of my 89 270 Amberjack due to the plastic fitting has split. I plan to go to Home Depot or Lowes and pick up a set of bathroom taps as replacements. Have to cut into the plastic lines. My question is, what size are the lines on here? They are the grey colored lines. I have seen metric sizes (15mm I think) and also Imperial sizes. Also what type of compression connector will suit this purpose. I dont want to have to deal with the crimping tool.
I plan on installing 12in flexible lines onto the taps before installing into counter and then make connection to lines below. Access to these is not easy. Any hints or tips muchly appreciated.

Ahoy, wise friends (and fellow ol'SeaRay junkies)...

On a day when all else is working well, I hope to (re)install privacy curtains (for the berths) inside the cabin of my venerable '85 260DA.

There remain some sort of factory metal tracks, accross the top of the entrance to both berths (the forward V & the mid-cabin) that presumably once held up the (long-since-gone) original privacy curtains.

But, none of the curtain hooks that once rode in the track are there anymore. (So I do not even know what they would look like.)

Any one have any idea if such hooks can be purchased?
Or what improvised solutions anyone may have had success with?

THANKS!!

Hello,
I have had a small leak in my bilge since I bought the boat. I have tried all normal places to find the leak. It is a slow leak from the starboard side. Other than I aspire to a dry bilge for the normal reasons it does not harm anything. I am now being told on this vintage the steering linkage can be a problem and is the probable cause since we have examined all other sources. The problem is the motor needs to be pulled to fix the issue. Any comments or experiences in this area would be appreciated...
ThanksMike
