John,

Would love to be on the water...

However, I plan on doing all the things necessary to launch boat for the season.

Yes! I am envious.

Enjoy!

This weekend actually looks like a good weekend to finish up the buffing, polishing, & waxing prior to the weather getting real good. I still have some early season maintanence I need to do before I committ to full scale boating summer. Besides Clearwater is a long haul for me. Egemont or Passage key and I'm all over that.

Tom,

Where are you coming from? Are you in the water in Tampa Bay or trailering? Or both? Anyway, Clearwater was more of a geographical location as opposed to Miami. Are you going to be out this weekend? The wife and I talked about trailering to Fort DeSoto this weekend...

It looks like I might be out there both Friday and Saturday. I know I also want to go to the boat show in Sarasota this weekend. I took Friday off so I could do some boating and fishing.

Didn't know about the Sarasota Boat show, is it any good? Where is it at?

I personally like the one in Tampa at the fair grounds over the one at the Trop same for the home show, seems like it's always better at the fair grounds.

I think we might go boating next weekend down in Punta Gorda

unlvrebel;

I'm actually up on the upper bay near oldsmar, the coordinates on my sig is the location.

I don't think I'll make it this weekend; to many things need finishing up before the summer season gets in full swing. I need to finish the spring wax job and install my new drive shower along with chenging the plug and fuel filter and cleaning up the enginer compartment in gerneral. Once the temps go up playing the bilige is no fun so better to get it done now.

have fun for me guys. may be we can have a pre-caladesi get away to egdemont key in a week or two.

Hey Tom, just curious what brand of drive shower you went with and let me know how that install goes I have been thinking of adding one myself. What plug are you chaging is that the drain plug for the bilge, didn't know that was something that needed to be changed, and lastly do you wax your boat while on the lift, how well does that go?

Morpheus;

I got the Halo version of the drive shower from here:

http://www.driveshowers.com/index.html

as to changing the plugs. I mean the spark plugs (looking to get max fuel economy this year). as for the Waxing; this is my 4th year of waxing the boat on the lift and I have the process pretty well worked out now.

I start with the top deck (day1) and move to the side that faces the dock, adjusting the lift to get the upper and lower side. then during high tide I flip the boat around in the cradel and switch sides (day 2). once I have both sides done their is still a section of the boat I can't reach from the dock so then it's time to use the 9' foot inflatable I bought at BJ's (154.99) to get the bow of the boat (day 3). Some folks might ask why it takes me 3 days to wax my boat. that because I compound (if needed), then buff, then polish, then apply 2 coats of Maguiers Flag ship marine. by the time I'm done the boat looks new agian.

if you want to help your more than welcome this weekend....

Ha.. Actually I think we would like to be closer to the gulf or have a shorter ride to the gulf then you do right now. I've boated in Tampa Bay alot and I just don't like it. Down in Charlotte Harbor/Punta Gorda the inlaws house is in Punta Gorda Isles and is on a channel that takes about 10 minutes at no wake speed to get to the harbor and then just 30 minutes to the gulf or 5 minutes around the bend to Captain Harry's which is a very LARGE and nice resturant resonablly priced that you can boat up to. If the job market fit what I do I would move down there I think.

Since this was kind of a short notice, anyone interested in scheduling a little "meet and greet" in a few weeks? Maybe a little island raft-up at Egmont. Bring some BBQs, set up the horseshoe pit, that kind of stuff.

Anyone?

I feel like a broken record here but her it goes, yea I'd love to accept the boat is kept in Punta Gorda and we do not currently have a place to keep it in Tampa so it would be difficult for us.

The boat show in Sarasota is at Ken Thompson Park on the water near Marine Max. It is probably one of the best show's I've been too because of the location and all the boats in the water.

Boating between Tampa Bay and The Gulf is no comparison. The Gulf or Intercoastal is so much better. Too many low points in Tampa Bay.

I will be out fishing or boating sometime tomorrow morning. I hope everyone has a great weekend and GO RAYS.

PS my buddy's youngster daughter is getting married on his boat this weekend. She is a great kid.

Was out all day Saturday. Wind picked up a little bit. Anchored off of the south end of Three Rooker sandbar. Threw the dogs overboard and set up camp for the day. Not too busy. A little horseshoes, some Jello shots and some beer.

Next weekend is looking good too!

My baby is all polished up; but wouldn't you know it. I go to start her up on Saturday to burn a little fuel and she dies on me. When I go to restart the smartcraft computer doesn't run it's system check and she won't restart.

I've been told that their is a fuse somewhere around the flame arrestor which I need to check otherwise it's mobile service for me this week.

I would luv to get up a get together say at least once a month. new place each time. there a lot of places I'd love to check out with a small group of like minded boaters. Since i'm married with rug rats we have to keep it family orianted....

place's id' like to spend a day or 2 :

Little harbor on tampa bay.
the morrings in Sarasota.
a Day at Egemont key.
a Weekend at caladesi May 16th-18th (booked)
Snorkel or Diving on the Reefs
etc
etc
etc

Just saw a thread somewhere today that talked about SmartCraft not responding and it did mention a fuse at the top of the engine... I think it was in General Discussion under embarrassing moments or some such...

Would love to do Caladesi, but I'm not sleepable. Fun place. Got a riend that has 34' of "Another Boat". We were actually looking at doing some camping on some of the barrier islands or shoal islands this year.

I say we set up Egmont Key ASAP. Next weekend is bad for me, but the following weekend looks wide open...

I'll snorkle just about any where I keep a set of fins and mask on board at all times; but I'm hoping to get dive certified this summer so I can dive the artifical reef's off of Clearwater.
