We've been boaters for 50 years now. After owning our current "family boat" for 35 years, (and having just retired), we thought it was time to upgrade. Our old boat sold to the first customer on the first day, and we got about 3 times the book value. We tend to keep our prized stuff a long time and maintain it meticulously.

Later that afternoon we signed the papers to order a 2019 SeaRay SPX 190 OB. Although it will be a couple months before delivery, (and we may not get much use this year), I thought it appropriate to join the forum.

We chose this particular model because it suited our family boating style quite well. We bought a Boston Whaler last year strictly for fishing, and the utility and low maintenance of the Mercury 4-stroke outboard was impressive. Thus, our initiative to move away from a stern drive and back to an outboard.

I'm writing to say "Hi", and inquire if anyone else has any words of wisdom regarding the 190, based on their own personal experience.

Jim, welcome to CSR and congrats on your new Sea Ray. If you've browsed around here you will have found that we like to see photos of your boats. Especially the new one when you get it, but as a Whaler owner, I'd like to see the pics of it too.

Nice! welcome...

Thanks for the welcome. Here's a couple pics of our Whaler. We also have a classic Lyman, but I'll save those pics for another day.

With a few differences, yours looks an awful lot like our 2010.

We also have a 1980 13' Sport that we keep in AZ and use on Lake Pleasant. It has a 2-stroke 40 Merc and it's actually a bit faster than the 2010, probably because it's a much lighter boat.

The guy we bought it from had just done a full restoration with new wiring, new wood, new gelcoat, seats, etc.

They sure are a lot of fun to run around in.

Nice rig. I sure like all the mahogany. Wish that was still the way they made them.

Our '52 will probably always be the pride of our fleet.

Wow, that Lyman is beautiful. It reminds me of the boats that were around when I was a kid growing up on Lake Huron. What a stunning boat. It obviously has been very well taken care of and loved. Thanks for sharing those pics.
