310 Sundancer Thread (2007 & newer)

Thank you. I guess that's going to be quite the winter project.
The original sink isn't good for much, so it's a must do for us.
I'll try to remeber to document the work in case other people want to tackle it.
Usually I get into a project and get busy and get it done, and don't think about pics.

Did my survey and everything looks great at this point. few things came out before the survey report. SR310 - 2008 with 6.2 seacore and AXIUS.

Looking for feedback:
  • MM tech mentioned Skyehook & Autompilot were disabled by white glove service. However, was able to use the joystick no problem to leave the dock, navigate the marina a and get to open water. I even tried it for 10 minutes
  • Cabin Issues:
    • Water in the bilge in front of galley - not sure where it's coming from
    • 3 lift assist air gas pistons for the storage above the bed (how much to fix?)
    • receptacle in head and galley did not work
    • Missing CD case for the clarion
  • Speakers on bow not working
  • Cockpit:
    • Engine data not showing in GPS. newly installed Garmin 74CV + Transducer
  • Cap for the front anchor button is missing
  • Newly installed Marine Radio - GX 1600
  • Newly installed TV antenna
  • Newly installed Garmin GPS 19x HVS
Any additional thought would be much appreciated.

The Axius joystick is independent of the autopilot and Skyhook. Those two features are disabled until firmware is updated. In order to get the updates done, you have to have an audible warning beeper installed. A good dealer can handle this. I didn’t have that luxury and it was long road.

Inexpensive. I bought replacements on Amazon for a few dollars each.

Speakers on bow not working
These speakers require a separate audio source, usually from an iPhone/iPod. The dock is located in the starboard cabinet at the foot of the forward berth.

Thank YOU.

Some info regarding some of your other items:

Mid-bilge water:

For the sake of clarity, I'm considering mid-bilge to be the forward-most compartment beneath the galley floor. Water in this area can be from many sources, but an easy one to check is the A/C condensate pan and drain hose that is under the front berth. If the drain hose is disconnected or clogged, it can overflow into the forward bilge, eventually making it's way to the mid bilge area. This requires a significant amount of water as there aren't any low limber holes that allow free movement of water from forward to aft in these areas. So, while easy to check, the A/C probably isn't the source unless it's been a problem for a very long time in a very humid environment. Aside from the A/C, water in this compartment can come from the rear mid-bilge (where the shower sump box is located). There are limber holes connecting these two compartments and a failed shower sump pump can cause it to overflow and eventually flow forward into the mid-bilge. Technically, any over flow should be handled by the mid-bilge bilge pump so you may want to verify it's float switch.

Windlass switch caps:

I've recently removed, bleached, cleaned, reinstalled my foot switch caps. In the process, I found several suitable replacements on Amazon and a few other marine retailers online. Caps alone seemed more difficult to find due to potential fitment issues (screw spacing, etc), but complete switches were readily available for ~$40/per and up.

Other thoughts:

Is it a salt-water boat? If so, you might look at overall condition of the drives' transom assemblies, specifically the steering swivel pin. Bravo 3 pins deteriorate in corrosive environments and lead to leaks into the bilge at the top of the transom shield. The leak is an inconvenience, but the repair is costly. I had this issue on my 2009 when I purchased it in 2015 (was previously a salt-water boat).

All in all, it's a great boat that we continue to enjoy...

It's not a humid environment. so have to do some troubleshooting and will ask MM to check

I quickly check online and get your point, thanks.

I will ask the surveyor or MM to check the condition of the Swivel PIN. Thanks for the tip

Have you replaced the TVs? any recommendations? where does the cable for the antenna feed?

Time for an update - I have joined the 310DA club pending seller accepts my money transfer and sign for one last time.

Survey 1 went well apart from a non starting genny and Axius update not sea trailed and enabled.... :-( - and the Skyhook warning label was not put on yet. Survey 2 was today checking the remainder.. And now everything is working. And skyhook warning was put on by Merc Guys. So it has the updated Axius and Axius GPS and "new" blue top batteries.

The boat needs quite a few new hoses quite soon - but apart from them - Surveyor says "Looks almost new". Engine's came back with 192-197 in compression test - and 39 sec's of engine overheat as the worst - for 270 hours operation time.

So now I just have to wait for shipping. I bought a trailer for it - since it saves almost $3500 in shipping. (No cradle building and no crane lifts and cheaper land transport) - so "relative" price of trailer was $3500 for triple axle with brakes on all axles.

So estimated first time i'll see the boat in real life - is currently September 5th or 6th.

But the next few weeks will probably be very busy - since the probably biggest drain in our personal finances - and guaranteed our biggest joy in our lives - will be arriving around August 20-27th.... (yes "we" are expecting our first baby sailor )

And a couple of pictures (of the boat...)

Have you had problems with Axius alarms and losing power steering through the DTS??

I’ve not replaced any TVs as the 2009 already digital tuners. I did, however, add a tv to the forward berth and ran the coax back to the RF amplifier in the aft overhead cabinet over the galley settee. From memory, the antenna/arch coax is routed to the amplifier where it is then routed separately to each tv.

Hope this helps...

I have removed the TV's in mine. I have a 12 volt tv/dvd tv to replace one of them, just hasn't been a priority as we don't watch tv on the boat.
The coax is as stephenm27 said.

Does anyone know where the outlet by the galley sink is fed from?
Everything seems to be working except for it.

Does anyone know where the outlet by the galley sink is fed from?

To my knowledge, due to it's proximity to water (sink), it has to be fed from either the GFCI receptacle hidden in the upper cabinet in the head, or the GFCI receptacle behind the settee opposite the galley...

I do know it's on a gfci, just couldn't find the culprit. I betcha it's the one in the head.
I didn't know there was one in there. Not sure what the settee is, but I'll search around if it's not the one in the head.
Ha, just did a search and learned what a settee is. Learned a new word today. :)
Thank you very much.

Thank you stephenm27, it was the one in the cabinet in the head.

looking to install carpet in the cockpit and swim platform. looking at seadeck, MarineMat, FLEX DEK, and AquaTraction. I have the snaps in the cockpit area but no carpet. Anyone done this can share the pictures on the 310? for cockpit, should I use the snaps or just the 3M backing which requires removing the snaps. thanks in advance.

Looks awesome, especially that you covered everything i was looking to cover. Thank you so much. This is exactly what I'm looking for . How is the experience after couple of seasons? easy to clean? Did you template it or they had a template?
