Official 330 Sundancer Thread

So looked at a 330 a few days ago. There was a lot of caulking in a groove between the helm and cabin door, on the port side where the cabin door fits into, as well as the aft seat base behind the helm seat where it meets the cockpit wall. Are these typical leak areas? The was some evidence of water on the floor at some time. But zero evidence of leaks in the headliner, port holes, walls, etc. Owner says no leaks since he's owned it.

On mine, this is simply sealing the helm/dash panels to the cap. I have a tan dash and the caulk matches. Appears to be factory and I’ve never had a leak up there either. Hatched on the bow are a different story. Also check for soft spots around the windlass. Mine wasn’t sealed when it was installed.

Guys can anyone help my with the oem compass model and manufacturer for the 1995-1999ish 330's? My original is long gone. Previous negligent owner installed a crude plate and much smaller compass. I ordered a new ritchie navigator but it is smaller.
The measurements of oem appeae to be 6" overall circle, with 4 screw holes. 5.5" screw hole diameter. I assume it was a ritchie or azimuth. Searay is no help and the manual just says 3.75" compass in the options list. I am ocd and would like the proper fitment without a spacer plate hah. Thanks in advance!

Mine has a fair bit of caulking. I dont have any leak issues aside from aged and poorly fitting camper top windows (need to replace them). My 95 is quite watertight for an aged boat. I did replace the windshield seal as well.

Ritchie “old style” HF-73. I just pulled mine to have Ritchie revitalize it.

New to the forum. We just had our first cruise on a 1996 Sundancer 330 we picked up a month or so back. We stalked the forum pretty extensively when we were getting her surveyed and outfitted.
7.4 Mercruisers, 8K generator, 44lb Vulcan anchor. Covered over the course of its life, and unused for the last 2-3 years. Well taken care of engines and a dry hull.

Had to reseal all three hatches, give the engines a tune up, clean out the water system, expoxy some drill holes in the transom, reseal the windshield, put new brushes in the windlass and pick up a new 9.9hp outboard. After all the work, she did great out in the San Juans.

Anchored at Sucia and had 25 knot gusts at midnight. While whipping around on the chain in the wind, was grateful that we went with the 44lb Vulcan.

No signs of leaking internally, but we are tempted to rebed virtually all the hardware and accessories on the front half of the boat. Can’t say that it’s been done over the course of the boats life, and I don’t get the feeling that Sea Ray overdrilled the through holes and bedded in epoxy (or was otherwise diligent about the sealing).

We appreciated all the knowledge and wisdoms on the thread.

Anyone know where to buy the helm warning system? The module at the helm that shows if the bilge pumps are on, high engine temperature etc. The module was unplugged and missing on mine when purchased.

You are correct in your assumptions about the bedding of hardware. Apparently Sea Ray was a little stingy on the sealant. I've been wanting to rebed my railing stanchions but am afraid of the nightmare reaching the nuts inside the cabin. I did this project many moons ago on my 260 DA when I converted the chrome fittings to SS.

If it's the one shaped like a boat forget it. Those things are relics. You cant find them anywhere. I researched this a couple years ago & Sea Ray said there was a conversion to digital but it cost around $2k. That was where I left it.

Wow not worth it! Thanks!

Mine crapped out last year. When the motors are running, the starboard engine temp sensor beeps every few seconds. There are two temp sensors on the thermostat housing, one for the gauge and one for the alarm panel. I tried swapping sensors with the port motor, shorting the sensor out, or leaving the circuit open didn't stop the incessant beeping. I unplugged the alarm panel.

If the stupid alarm panel wasn't encased in epoxy I would have debugged the circuit board and fixed it. I too had no luck in locating a replacement.

windshield frame.... what is this coated with ? how do we get it looking better?

I took mine off, broke it down ( it was 28 separate pieces I believe) and had it sandblasted & powder coated. But, Tom's recommendation is much easier. Get the rattle cans & paint it! Lol.

I tried a search or ten, but, to no avail. Our 97 330 has the power seat but no bolster to lift up for standing, so I find myself kneeling on the seat (also not comfortable) or putting a throwable cushion on the seat, etc. to try and raise myself up when going throttles up so I can see ahead of us.

Is there an aftermarket cushion that might do a better job of allowing me to remain mostly vertical while still being able to pilot the boat?

im sure this is common to every 330 owner of this vintage. ive never looked at how the cushions attach to the frame , but im wondering if I can shim the whole thing up permanently by 3"

Our boat is lacking an inverter, but we have an 8K generator.
I’m curious to know what type of inverter other people have and where they installed it.

Hello All,
My Starboard motor likes to quit when hot? I have tried a new coil, ingnitor, ECU Coil and plugs. Still have the issue. It has fuel and no spark. Has anyone tried the after market distributors? I was looking at DUI. Really has me baffled. I haven't tried swapping distributors as I am floating. But that seems to be the only thing left . Any Suggestions re
ally welcome.
