Don't think removing anything short of the batteries or the solenoid box will get you access. I did this with one hand yesterday as there is no way to really get two hands in there. Oh i did remove the ladder but that was it. It really isn't as bad as it looks but its a pain nonetheless.

I just remove the ladder and think really small thoughts while exhaling. Then try not to inhale after the filter is off:D
I replaced the original with a big orange filter and replace the carbon pellets annually. I keep meaning to relocate the filter to a more convenient location. Maybe this summer.

Irie, so funny you just posted this. I need to replace my filter and was going to ask for suggestions on how to get to it. Does anything need to be removed to get in there, or just contort yourself?

Hey Mark, I replaced that filter about a year ago. I didn't remove anything but, the biggest pain in the ass was getting the filter unclipped from the holder. Use a mirror to see how the plastic strap holds the filter in the cradle. I used some long channel lock pliers to loosen from the tank side (forward) then you will have some slack in the vent hose to detach from the hose.

I just changed the one on my 47DB which took about 5 minutes. Much easier.

I changed mine about 4 months after we took possession and moved her to freshwater. I had been using Norflex Digester since the day we got her. Changing the filter and pulling the floats to clean was a non-event. There was little to no smell and a little toilet paper was stuck to the rods and messing up the floats. Norflex is the best!!!! I tried something else for 6 months or so, but no comparison in the long run. Went right back and it is my mainstay.

Hey Keith, thanks for the heads up...no pun intended. Really enjoying the boat!!
bbwhitejr, I tried Unique marine digestor after reading some reviews between it and Norflex. Thought they compared, but maybe not. The odor might be a result of the product I'm using. I ordered a filter, but may hold off and try Norflex first and see what happens.

I also did a trial run on the Unique. Reviews looked good, so gave it a 3-4 month test and it was a no-go compared to Norflex. Did not compare at all. I may get a little carried away and use a little too much Norflex from time to time, but it works...at least for me...

I replaced all my exterior courtesy with Tri-Color LEDS. Purchased at Defender. Using a hole saw I added 2 additional lights to the arch bringing the there total to 4, plus I replaced all others on bridge and in cockpit. Three-way so basically each time you hit the rocker you get a color. I did warm white, red, and blue. If I had to do again I'd probably purchase a brand with a hole to better matches the factory cut out. Dealing with that fiberglass dust was a mess and I really only needed maybe another 1/8" diameter. I paid $129 -20% each. They are now on closeout and I think selling for $55 ea. If I did again I'd buy Macris.

Mark, I religiously use Norflex on all my holding tanks and change the filters regularly and never had a problem. I did have an issue last year with the 420DB holding tank sensors not working. I used Happy Campers Extreme Cleaner as directed and immediately the sensors worked perfectly.

I am in the process of purchasing an 07 44 Sedan Bridge. Can anyone tell me what transducer is used in the center bilge near the forward bulk head? This boat has E120 Raymarine MFD's and the depth is not accurate and I would like to replace the transducer during haul out for survey and some other work to be done at that time.
Anyone know a surveyor in the New Smyrna Beach area?

Thanks

Transducer is in that forward bilge area at bulkhead between engine cradles. Although I have upgraded electronics, I did not change from the stock transducer. I did have to replace it a couple times over the years. Losing water temp and/or depth. I simply snipped the wires and replaced with butt connector and heat shrunk. I've got a Raymarine E125 & E127 but do not have the fish finder hooked up. That would require a different transducer or perhaps an additional one. Not sure which. Mine simply covers depth and water temp. The photo's illustrate the part number I currently have.

Short lived excitement...Changed the capacitor on Friday afternoon and it worked perfect for about 16 hours. Back to doing the same thing. Compressor may or may not start and stay running. Gets progressively worse until resetting it won’t get it to run.

Sunday morning, reinstalled the original capacitor only for the unit to start up and run as it should when it would not on the new capacitor.....back to the drawing board. Will call Dometic on Tuesday morning. In their email, they mentioned a start relay, but don’t see it and have not a clue.....

More to follow.

I am still running on the original capacitor. I called Dometic on Tuesday, 5/28 and talked with a tech. After explaining what was going on and helping him to understand, he pointed to the High Pressure electrical connections and switch itself. There are two yellow wires running from the switch to the circuit board. I took a pair of needle nose pliers and removed both ends of both wires and simply pushed them back on the spade terminals. There were not dirty nor corroded nor loose. They appeared perfect. However, the AC has run problem free without even one issue since that day. Go figure....

Yes, there are two drains. What I was asking is if anyone has lids to cover the drain holes. The lids should be attached on the ER hatch. I wanted to see what they look like, as mine were never there.

I was puzzled for a while why do I get sea water on my tool box, I found an answer while doing some checking during a cruise. When seas hit the hull the water rushes through those drain holes right in to the ER. Obviously it's all in controlled fashion when ER hatch is closed, but when it's open, you're looking at two fountains.

After discovering this, I realized that I'm missing two small lids from the ER hatch. So, I'm trying to find the replacement.
Alex or anyone else who has had this issue. What was the final fix?

Yes, it's in that forward bilge area at bulkhead between engine cradles. You should have a Plug affixed to the bulk head. Simply unscrew the old one and use the plug to close the hole. Screws right in. Then you can replace transducer. I simple snipped the wires and replaced with butt connector and heat shrink. I've got a Raymarine 125 & 127 using this. No fish finder though. Just depth and water temp.

Thanks for the info. It looks just like the set up on my 420 Sundancer.

The location is such a PIA that a few years back I rerouted using a couple pieces of 5/8" hose. I ran to a point beneath ladder and then suspended the bracket with zip ties. I sent the return hose back to original location and connected. Kept hose as short as possible and as level as I could. Works very well and makes changing filter a snap. Got the idea from a buddy who had an older 480DB. In his 480, the factory install was just behind the ladder. I simply copied it.

Hey Dean,

I fixed it by simply installing check valves on both drains.

One more question for the group. I noticed that at idle my port side bypass discharge is not as powerful as my starboard. Temps and impellers are good. I summed it up to the size of the exhaust tubes. The port is about twice the size of the starboard even though the bypass exhaust hoses are the same size. Is this common?
