Sherry and I have a mint 2007 260DA, but I don't like having as my only depth reading the Smartcraft Gauge, that alternates readouts of depth and trim.

I want a 5-7" unit like a Humminbird, Lowrance or Garmin. I've installed dozens of these in bass boats, but my issue on the Sea Ray is where to put the transducer. I want to do an internal, epoxy mounted installation, in the sump/engine area. Don't want to mount externally, and for sure don't want to cut a hole for a through hull mount.

Has anyone done this on a 260 or similar hull. Will shoot through transducer mount work, like it does on smaller boats?

Thanks for the help.

If your 260 has a cored hull I believe this will be a non-starter for the shoot-thru type of transducer. Perhaps post up your HIN # and folks can tell you whether or not you've got a cored hull.

Is it possible you could configure your Smartcraft gauge to stay on depth instead of scrolling, if that is your preference?

Thanks for the response. My HIN is SERR3361E606. Would like to find a way to have backup depth reading at the console.

Nice. There are some super knowledgeable folks around here that may know your hull construction just based on where it was built.

Maybe as an aside if you get a decent charplotter with good/current charts you could always rely loosely on those charts for depth information as a "backup". Just a thought.
