Late 90's 270 Sundancer Thread

One thing we struggled with on our 270 was grill storage. With twin 4.3s and a genny we didn’t have enough space in the engine bay. So we had to store our grill in the cabin which took up a lot of room and made the cabin smell like a grill.
So we bought a Blackstone 17” griddle which takes up a lot less room when in its bag and I made a new table storage compartment to replace the original one. This one still holds the cockpit table if need be (we never store it down there) but it also stores the folding transom grill table I made last year along with the Blackstone.
Also, the original table storage wall was fastened in place with twelve screws into 2 boards which were held in place with 4 more screws which made it a royal PITA to take out to get to the genny. This one is held in place with 4 wire lock pins and can be removed without any tools in a matter of minutes.

Nice, I like that you were able to build that customer storage cabinet, looks good.

I keep my grill in the cockpit during trailering then once we get on the water I install it in it's holder. I have rod holders installed on my gunwales and use a rod holder grill mount for it.

That guy right there. Which I actually bought it as another brand but my new grill is a KUUMA actually. We don't always bring the grill so sometimes I just leave it at the storage facility.

Here's the folding grill table that I made

We were using a Char-Broil Grill2Go, which worked great, but it just takes up too much space.36379019_10213241245359039_5577193068840353792_n.jpg IMG_2961.JPG

That's a nice big table, that's probably useful for more than just grilling. Looks like you made it of wood and painted? Also assume you added those cup holders to the original table? Good idea, that table is worthless for putting drinks on, lol. They really whiffed on the cupholder portion of our boat.

It does come in handy. It's made from PVC panel purchased at Home Depot. I did add the cup holders to the table. I also added nylon spacers so that the table sets level. You can see where I also added a fold-down stainless cup holder above where the cooler is sitting in the video.

Hafnutz67 that is such a cool table do you have the template you used? What size holes did you cut out of the table for the cup holders? I have also been looking to find what the Clarion model number is for the wired remote at the helm so that I can get the proper cable adaptor

I have the template drawn out at home. I'll upload as soon as I get a change

Here is the template. I almost forgot about posting it.

does anyone know where I can find a replacement gas strut for the transom hatch on a 99 270 sundancer
I would think F&P Marine but I looked and couldn't find anything. The Gas strut should have some identifiers on the strut and may be a common thing that you can google once you have the identifier.

Hello all. I’m the lucky owner of a 2001 270 DA. I bought it a few years ago from a good friend that has way more disposible income than I.

The boat came from the original owner who dry docked it in Florida. The Hull, Deck, Cabin and Cockpit are all immaculate.

The first thing he did was have our Marina (Lagoon City) install a slight power upgrade. He went with a 525HP Bullet Marine Engine. It’s a 502 Punched to 516. Mated to a XR Outdrive.

The boat basically matches RPM to MPH. 4500 does 48, 3200 does 32. It runs on 91 Octane.

He redid the interior apholstery, Dash and had a new Bimini and Mooring Cover made.

The boat has AC, Windlass etc.

I really appreciate the info the members help me with here.

Welcome aboard CSR. Great first post and yeah, looks like your buddy a little bit of boat bucks to throw around.

Thank you. That table is awesome. I bought this Napoleon Travel Q BBQ and I can attest it fits in the bag perfectly in the Transom Hatch with a 5lb Tank. The table remains in my box at the slip. The cooking surface is very large but has hot spots, but I am very pleased with it. Available at Costco, Amazon and Napoleon Dealers.

Welcome, and very nice looking boat.

Welcome, and very nice looking boat.
Thank you. We love this boat for two person weekends. I have the normal issues such as wet carpet near the garbage bin that I need to sort. I have the entire Camper Top never used except the roof was replaced as a Bimini only. Fortunately we have a great local source for custom Canvas. They are so good it takes a year to get a project completed.

I finished updating/upgrading our helm/dash area with new:
-steering wheel
-gauge panel
-blue bulbs for gauge backlights
-center dash panel
-VHF
-tablet mount (for Galaxy Tab A with Navionics)
-switch panels
-rocker switch covers
-toggle switch covers (for windlass & trailer trim switches)

I still need to replace the ignition switch covers (I forgot to order them).
