EVA foam decking

My main question is whether they offer colors other than teak and black. That's a no go in Florida for me. Lt Grey and white is perfect.

They do. I asked that as well and they special order that material. The teak and black is a stock material for them and the most popular in the midwest.

I am not a fan of carpet on the floor of the cockpit deck. So I purchased some EVA foam deck material from ebay and changed the whole look in a few hours. The material should stand up to sun, hose off easily with no staining and it's got some cushion to it as you walk on it. I think it looks a whole lot better than it did....

Before and after:
The EVA foam/rubber looks amazing and its very good insulation for the heat but be careful putting chairs on top of it, even when the chairs have plastic caps on bottom, they can damage the EVA rubber.
BtW, it looks amazing !

I guess I will call them. Their webpage contact form must not get checked, even though I'm sure it's just an email post.

I am now conflicted about installing the SeaDek. I really like the fact that it is peel and stick and not clued down with flooring cement like the Plasteak and Plasti Dek ect… I couldn't imagine removing the flooring and getting all of the glue up. It seems logical that the soft material would be susceptible to damage from normal wear in high traffic areas. I would want to have the custom panels made with the boarders which ramps up the cost. It sounds though like there are more folks generally impressed with the product than are disappointed they went that direction. It looks like I can get my 44DB done installed for 1/2 the cost of the other options but still be a $4000 project. Tell me its worth it Please!

Do it. I was looking at my flip flops tonight thinking, is it the shoe, or the flooring? It was the flooring. The only thing that will really last is the hull.

Well we made the decision to go all in with PlasDek in Mahogany and Onyx instead of the EVA Foam product. Its more money but I've never had buyers remorse by going for the top shelf. My cruising buddy with the 420 did his, made his template and rolled it in himself and it looks fantastic. Unfortunately Plas Dek some how deleted his digitized template! I was hoping to just use his to save the work of making a template myself. If anyone out there did their 44 or 420 recently and is happy with the install I'd love to hear from you as Plas Dek folks may be able to find your template file to use. They have one on file but I don't really want to use it with out knowing the provenance.

Only about 5 months into our SeaDek, but so far have been very impressed with it. Boat is getting heavy use, have now had numerous spills on the material, and it cleans up nicely and continues to look like the day it was installed. We'll see over time, but happy and love the comfort on the bare feet.

I've had my first SeaDek/EVA issue with a very small torn peice. No chairs, just from foot traffic. Actually not sure why or when it happened. I just looked down and there it was. Fortunately the peice that came off was still there, so I'll try and glue it back on. I love the stuff, but now it has me wondering about it.

I'm working on my 2nd season with it only on the swim steps with no issues, but you are right, it's not as robust as it could be... When it goes I'm thinking woven vinyl.

Plas Dek found the File! My buddy reminded me that two years ago he actually used my boat to make his template so it will fit perfectly. This will save a ton of work not to mention several hundred dollars and a few weeks of lead time not shipping templates back and forth. We are doing the cockpit, stairs and bridge and also the head soles. Ill post pics when complete along with our finishing touches on new upholstery on the bridge.

We are looking to do the same (probably not this year) so I'm really looking forward to seeing how yours turns out. I've read all the threads and have a similar preference towards Plasdek vs the EVA. Interesting that you are doing your bridge - it seems that most use carpet but my wife questioned why we wouldn't do the bridge as well.

Will you be installing it yourself? doing the the swim platform as well?

/Tom

Yes, doing the job ourselves but doing the platform is still being mulled over. Harold did not do his or the flybridge hatch sole. I’ll need to template those myself.

We went SeaDek this year on our 360DA. We mostly love it. We did the topside and the steps going into the cabin. Makes everything none slip and can wash with a hose and brush without having to deal with wet carpet. It is not as durable as I would like. I dropped a small propane tank when I was setting up my grill on the stern and it left a cut in the SeaDek. We have another small tear we think is from the end of a pole when we were moving some canvas supports around. All the material is there so I can just glue it, but I don't see how this would hold up on boats that see more rough use for fishing or diving.

I also had two areas in the cutouts where you step up to go forward that we had issues with the SeaDek shrinking around the edges. Our installer confirmed what others mentioned in this thread that this is caused by the curved area of shiny gel coat focusing the sun on the SeaDek. They are going to replace it under warranty though. When they do, they are going to add a small piece of light SeaDek on the side to stop the gel coat reflection. Think of it like a foam baseboard. We are in North Florida and cost for install by certified SeaDek installer was $4K.

It helped me a lot in putting down my flooring yesterday. I used the 3M adhesive and it seems to be holding well so far, but only been a day. Cutting the foam was easy with scissors but measuring and making a template was tough. I decided to do sections instead of entire floor (following boats diamond plate fiberglass finish). I am very pleased with the look so far. This was two rolls of the Eva teak. I need one more roll to finish. Will have about $180 in it when done. Just wanted to say thanks to everyone for sharing their experiences! It was really helpful, so wanted to share mine as well.
