Fresh Water Tank Gauge Inop.

Nope.

All I see is someone who wants to direct others as what to do with their personal property.

I could really care less about your former Tiara and what you did with it, it has zero relevance to this thread.

The fix we now have is working, and it's an easy fix. I suspect this fix will work for many years to come.

Again, kudos to Jim (speakrdude) for offering a working and easy solution.

This post is unreasonable. We are all boaters that want to share solutions to our common. No need to attack a fellow member offering an alternative solution with this personal attack, particularly after he graciously answered why it was relevant.

This is not an attack. It’s a rebuttal and an opinion.

This thread is about a fix for a problem on our boats. SBW has twice jumped in here telling us not to use this fix, but instead use his preferred method (which is costly).

The ones here that have used Jim’s fix are quite happy with it.

Thanks to Jim. Fixed the problem that led is always on last week. As Jim said, I replaced the four transistors. How to replace the transistor on the circuit board was learned on YouTube.

It is a logical to look at the transistor problem that all the leds are turned on even if the fresh water tank lines are cut off.

Thanks again to Jim.

Jim changed my transistors this past winter and it’s really nice knowing how much fresh water I have on hand again.
The first transistors kept the gauge working for 16 years before quitting last year, I know this because the original wiring harness was undisturbed when I went to remove the gauge, hoping these will do the same.

Ok! I’ll pull it next weekend! Thanks!

My water tank Meter breaker in main box won’t stay in the on position so I can’t tell if it’s full or empty, thoughts?

What were your symptoms? When I press the "tank level" button on my, new to me, (2002 340da) all the lights up. Not sure if that is "full water" or "completely empty".
Doesn't ever change, full or empty of water.
Hello
Hello Mr Crews,
I saw your posting about the transistors that are bad on the display board. I am with my boat now in Rovinj, Croatia and my display has the symptoms that the transistors are bad. Can I ask you to let me know what transistors I should order to have them replaced. I don't know much about electronics but I am sure there are lots of different transistors... THANK YOU!! Erwin

Thank you very much - if you need something form the EU let me know. I am here for 1 more month! All the best -

If your led gauge reads full all the time, most likely, the 4 transistors on the circuit board are shorted. That solved mine. I bought the transistors on line, and have about 40 left over. If you would like, I’ll send you 4. (N/c)
Or send me the circuit board and I will install them for you. (N/c)
Jim
I've got the same problem on my 2004 420 DA. I can change the transistors, but can't find the type number on them. If you have any left, I would appreciate your mailing me a few. If not, then what type are they and I'll just order my own bag with many spares.

BTW, there's a black mark on the board next to one of the hold down nuts that looks like it could be a burn, but there's no sign of burning, if that makes sense..
