It looks like they changed the control panel for 2008, my 2007 has black sheet metal for the control panel cutouts, no wood trim facing like yours has. I always assumed I would cover the cutouts with a more or less matching bit of sheet metal (I can adapt almost identical telecom rack mount panel fills from work).

But like you, I couldn't get the changer or DVD player out. I had pulled my head unit because the factory aux input wasn't working as expected, only playing inside the boat and not out. But a previous owner had freelanced on the stereo and put some weird dimmer/fader switch in by the amp in the V-berth, so I assumed it had something to do with that.

It looked to me like to gain the clearance to pull out the changer and DVD player that I would have to loosen and pull out most of the power panels below the players to get them out due to their mounting brackets.

I did replace the TV itself, though. I solved the power problem by using an adapter to convert the computer-style existing TV power plug to a generic outlet plug the new TV could plug into.

I'd like to upgrade the whole mess of outdated AV technology -- probably the newer Clarion that fits the opening, but provides BT, and maybe a single-DIN Blu-Ray player, but the control panel setup kind of makes it a pain, and then there's the cockpit remotes that need updating and that wiring looks like a religious experience to complete.

Last summer I ended up buying a waterproof bluetooth speaker on a lark, and now we use that more than the head unit. It sounds great and is easy to move around, including floating it on the water (less obnoxious than a loud stereo in a busy anchorage), but its definitely cut into my motivation for diving into an AV upgrade.

There is a lot of junk all using some sort of power, probably low, so eliminating is not a bad idea. FireTV or Chromestick connected to a bluetooth speaker is the way to go. No need for DVD or BluRay. I'm going to keep the Clarion for now for FM radio, only upgrade to fusion if i get NMEA 2000, otherwise replace a stereo with another. I love the idea of Bluetooth speakers - much easier and more portable.
 
Finally got delivery and did my first short 2 cruises. awesome boat - struggled with the Tabs (up or down and indicator). getting a captain to provide few tips.

What is the typical cruising speed? RPM or GPH?

Which Smartcraft vesselview version/model is this? and i keep getting 2 errors once underway, Fuel sender error, engine sensor. Then it reboots while underway. any thoughts?

Also, which options/sensors are actually view-able on the VV? Tabs levels?

I typically cruise on plane at 3600 rpm which gets me about 27 mph. I’m on a lake so my runs are not long enough to worry about fuel burn. Good luck with the boat. I love mine. Axius is a great tool though I rarely use it unless I have gotten myself into trouble.

Axius is defiantly great - it's my first cruiser and used Axius to leave/return from slip in marina. My 11 year old loved as he actually returned the boat to the slip. When we were in open water, I used the levers to turn the boat around to some gain experience.
 
Hi all,
I am going through the process of purchasing a 2009 310 sundancer. Had the survey done today with only a few issues. Batteries had to be replaced this morning by current owner!! Air conditioner is not blowing cold air. I checked the filter and it was nasty full of crap. Unfortunately that happened after the boat was back on the trailer. Hopefully it will get looked at early next week. Boat is in great shape, runs great, axius system is working!! its a perfect size boat for my wife and me. I hope to have it by the end of the month (July). Now I just have to sell my 2009 270 sundancer
 
It is a great boat and you will love it. This is my first season with the 310 so getting used to the boat and determining the which upgrades to do first. The seadeck was my first upgrade. I debating adding the VV mobile as it is an easy/quick way to monitor the engine and warnings. The boat is easy to dock and maneuver in tight spots using Axius. welcome and to the 310 thread.

It runs awesome. I really like the joy stick! It will need new carpet, but that will be done before nest spring. Definitely a stereo upgrade also. I see you are in Boston. I was born on the south shore in Scituate. I get back there once a year. We love San Antonio, TX!!

We love boating around here as there so many things to do & see. Carpet or sedeck was my first upgrade this spring, make the boat look even better IMHO. as for electronics ..etc, Stereo works for me, i hit the TVs first and next is helm electronics Radar, and debating between Simard or VV702/902. Will definitely be a next spring project.

It looks like I will be closing on the 2009 310 Sundancer by the middle of next week. Question- can anyone tell me how to pull out the couch in the mid cabin to make it into a bed? The salesman told me it should just pull it out but I can't seem to make that happen. Any help would be appreciated. Sorry about the picture being the wrong direction

Not sure how to explain it. It slides forward and the cushions under the mirror are used as fillers to complete the bunk. It takes some effort to slide. Make sure nothing is binding of blocking its path.
 
I've been using the boat for couple of weeks now and it seems to be running great in spite of couple of faults on the VV (WheelPosMyRel diff - happened couple of times & TVM_noncritical_fault - happened once). Boat functioning well, cruising at 3600 to 3800 at speeds of 25 - 27 knt. I tried WOT couple of times, I can hit 4800 (max) with speeds of 33 - 37 knt (drives not trimmed). Axius works great especially in Locks and docking. Tried skyhook few times and its working great as well holding position. Even with the faults, AXIUS and DTS seems to be functioning ok - from my basic knowledge. I did discover that 2 batteries were 27AGM and 2 were 31 AGM.

Dealer fixing trim senders today, doing diagnostics on faults and working on getting the genset working properly.

Any thoughts?
 
I'm VV Mobile today, the install states "multiwake junction box". Under the dash, there seems to be an 8 way junction box with a bunch of labels connected to a 6 way junction box. are both junction boxes the same? I have DTS, does this make any difference? I will upload pictures later.
 
Just got my new 2009 310 sundancer delivered today. Needs a very good cleaning. Can anyone identify what this antenna is for? Its missing the cap and I have tape over it for now. its beige in color. There is another one on the other side that says Garmin on it.

On my 2009 that is the GPS antenna for the factory-installed Raymarine C80.
 
hi everyone wondering if anyone has had any issues with fiberglass cracking on the engine hatch. more specifically the rear corner near the shore power door.??
 
No, have not seen that on mine. Is it right at the hinge?
