Guidelines for going to and from the Bahamas

Heading out of Fort Pierce July 6th at day break, and heading to GTC if anyone else has plans. Let me know.

Hello everyone. While planning for our trip to Bimini in May, I was asked to put together a fact sheet for boaters looking to visit the Bahamas. I put this document together from my own experiences, help from my fellow boaters and information available on the internet. This Guideline is available on a MS Word format or pdf, just shoot me a PM and I'll be happy to send you the latest version. My hope is to update this Guideline as things change so it will be a resource for everyone. The Guideline is not geared specifically to certain locations, just the process and procedures for making a safe crossing. Feel free to provide additional information any time.

NOTE - the pages shown below are not the most current Guide, they were the first version. The most current updated Guide will be sent when requested.

Heading over this coming Wednesday from Ft Lauderdale, dropping lines around 7 am. Anyone else heading that way?

Captains, sorry to be the bearer of sad news, but Randy passed away in April, of this year. I unfortunately don’t have any other info, with respect to his passing. From personal experience, I will tell you, Randy was a kind, selfless man. I am sure many of you experienced this when contacting Randy, and using his Bahamas document he maintained for all of us. When they say the good die young, Randy is certainly one of the good ones.

I will try to find a way to put his Bahamas document on line for all to download. It is a little dated, but most of the information is still relevant.

This is a link Randy shared with me re: Bahamas docking and fuel prices:

Randy will be missed.

I hate to hear this!!!! He was always so nice and shared his knowledge so freely.
So sorry to hear of his passing. JC

Very sorry to hear this. A truly great guy. I had the pleasure to meet Randy several years ago. He was very gracious and allowed us along with Alex “Inspiration” to dock at his house overnight after we rafted up for the day in Lake Boca Raton. Randy and his wife were great hosts and it was a memorable weekend. We stayed in touch for a while and tried to plan a Bahamas trip but the timing was never right. RIP Randy.......

Also very sad to hear. I have met Randy as we shared similar boats and both boat in SE FL. He had me over to his house to see his boat, and him to mine. Always a great guy. Condolences to his all his family and friends.

I knew Randy and crossed with him to Bimini 5 or less years ago, what a great person and captain he was. I was afraid when I hadn't heard from him on here in a few months something was wrong. Such a great guy and I'll sure miss him. RIP brother and thank-you for sharing all your knowledge with me, I wish I could have had another trip following that beautiful 44 of yours, anchors away my friend!!
