While out today after about 20 minutes of cruising at 3700 RPMs and then idling for about 10 minutes I went to get back on plane and noticed my starboard pressure dropped to around 10 PSI and would slowly increased to 30 PSI and would fluctuate quite a bit. At about 1800 RPMs the RPMs on the starboard engine would ramp up a few 100 and then lower a few 100 RPMs. Ended up idling back to the slip. Any ideas what could be causing this?

Is that where your temp normally runs? Seems a little high, should be closer to 175. Probably not related to the oil pressure UNLESS you have some loose or corroded connections on the back of the gauge.

My temp on the starboard runs around 158 and port 154

Yep - sorry read the gauge wrong. Still worth checking all the connections.

If your oil pressure gauge fluctuates with wild swings the oil pressure sending unit on the engine may need replacing. About a $40 part. The 6.2s were engineered with large tolerances for good oil flow so your oil psi at idle drops to around 8psi.

The oil pressure would fluctuate when idling and increase when RPMs increased. Starboard motor ran terrible. There’s a “knocking noise” in the engine. Ive has a few mechanics out and we have come to the conclusion it’s a bad bearing inside the engine.

Looks like I will be replacing the starburst side motor now

Well that took a hard turn south quickly. Was the oil clean and full before this incident? Tough news hearing mechanical failure on such a young engine.

It sure did. Very unfortunate. Oil was clean and full before this occurred.

My mechanic was shocked to see happen in this engine with lower hours
