What kind of set up do you guys use for towing your dink? TIA

My bay tow rig is pretty casual. Only if we are going to one of the local gunkholes for the weekend
My Nautilus has tow rings on the sides of the hull, but I use the bow eye for this. Rig a running bridle with a 1/2 line across the lower stern cleats. Bowline to the bow eye, engine down for tracking, and tow at idle or cruise speed. Note this is for bay/calm water traversing.

For longer or more serious runs, I have a SS bridle made up to attach to the tow towing rings in the hull. snap shackle to the loop in a variable length painter to allow the dink to ride on the 2nd or 3rd wave as conditions dictate.

Can you post of those set-ups when u get a chance? TIA brother ;)

I have towed my 13’ Boston Whaler on 100+ mile trips in the ocean in not great seas... On our old 33’ Sea Ray we made a 125’ bridle that attached to the Whaler’s towing eye to our upper stern cleats on either side of the Sea Ray. Agree that the engine should be down and straight, lock the wheel with bungee if possible. When we got into a harbor both my wife a son would pull the lines in together and then tie off at a closer point that is appropriate for the harbor we are in.
