This is the first I have seen this. It seems concept is fairly new, as I couldn't find a web page or any real info.

spoke to them today as I saw it on FB. Around 3800$, but didnt get an idea on install in the states??

That seems like a lot of weight on the back edge of the platform. I would be afraid that would bend or break over time.

I think the system still has stiffeners that run from the swim platform edge to the transom only they are underneath the platform rather than on top. My personal opinion is the supports on top of the swim platform are definitely a death trap, at the least toe breakers.

I believe B_arrington is installing this model on his Back Cove. You might pm him for details.

I have something different. Very similar name, but different concept.

This looks interesting though. A little like a hydraulic platform in some ways.

Can you show us what you have ?

Sure! I have a few pics. No totally ideal, but you'll get the idea. I have the "under mount extended davit system" from dinghydavits.com. (http://www.dinghydavits.com)

The concept is to have 2 receivers mounted under the platform. Removable arms slide into the receivers and lock in place by means of a pin. A pivoting cradle sits on the end of the arm. You pull the dingy up onto the cradle and it rotates to level. The cradles can then be locked into place with a pin, and you strap down the dingy. At the end of each cradle arm are holes - these allow to attach a strap that goes over the top of the dinghy.

Notable things I like:
  • No toe-catchers on the swim platform. All you see are a set of rounded carriage bolt heads.
  • Lots of space between the dinghy tube and the transom to walk.
  • The motor can stay on the dinghy. With the my old Weaver system I was mounting / dismounting the engine every time.
  • Arms are totally removable. When removed, the davit system is basically invisible.
  • Easy to re-install the arms.
  • Dinghy sits well above the wake / waves (on my boat anyway)
  • Heavy duty construction. The aluminum square tubing is really thick. The mounting brackets are machined from a solid block of aluminum.
  • The system allows for various swim platform lip heights by means of included starboard spacer blocks.

Notable things that I don't like / need improvement. Some can be addressed by me.

  • Most of the system is raw aluminum. It would have been a good idea to anodize the aluminum parts for item 2 below. I am considering sending the parts out to be anodized.
  • The pins are stainless steel. I've seen some evidence of galvanic corrosion at the pin / receiver interface. I did liberally use anti-corrosion paste on all the stainless bolts.
  • I need to get a better set of straps to secure the dingy. Right now I have a set of soft web loops through the holes in the cradle arms (an S hook will NOT fit in the hole). I'm using a set of S-hook ratchet straps I already had. The hook tends to fall off the web loop when trying to secure the dingy. A set of snap hook straps would solve the problem. I also have to crawl under the dinghy to attach the forward strap. A strap with a longer short-side would solve this as I could attach it before loading the dinghy. As I said, this can be solved with new strap.
  • It's a little bit of a struggle to load the aft side of the fulley loaded dingy. Securing the bow first is a great help to loading.

These are photos from the manufacturer.

This is it with the system installed and the dinghy loaded.

Only have one photo of the running with the dinghy loaded. Please ignore my father-in-law who was enjoying his new napping location.

Thanks ...I have seen that before. My neighbor has it...it didn't seem too bad to deal with

The system I have has a weight limit. If you're interested in carrying a light weight jetski the company has another option that has a higher load capacity. It's a drop-down system that holds the dinghy / jetski closer to the transom.

I hadn't seen this system before, looks very interesting. I'm in the market for a new davit system since mine failed last summer. I had the Olsson davit, and am not a big fan of it, it just seemed rickety whenever I encountered anything more than 1 ft seas. I would much rather have something that allows the dinghy to be firmly attached to the platform, not swinging around as the Olsson one did.

I'm debating between two of the models, either the Top Mount or the Drop Away versions. My platform is only about 11" off the water, so I will probably pick whichever one allows the dinghy to sit higher, but I would love to have the Drop Away to clear the platform when not in use.

The arms look like they are generic shaped and don't mold to the exact dinghy bottom shape, Brad do you have any issues with the dinghy rocking back and forth in the cradle, or are you able to tie it down securely enough? I would probably bolt on some tie down anchors to the holes in the davit ends so I could strap it securely to the arms, which I would think could stop any rocking.

Thanks for sharing it, looks like a good potential solution for me!

You're right that the arms do not conform exactly to the dinghy bottom. But I've not had an issue with it rocking. I think this was because I ran straps from the back side of each cradle arm, over the top, and to the front of the cradle arm. They were ratchet straps that I made tight. As I mentioned before, the holes in the cradle arms are not large enough for a strap hook (the hole to small for the thickness of the material for a hook to fit through. You need either some shackles ($$$ for properly sized ones) or soft webbed loops. The loops are light and have a high working load.

I did have an issue with the back end of the dinghy sliding off the arm. It would have been better if I had mounted it closer to centerline, so that's on my installation. I solved it by running a strap from the stern of the dinghy to a cleat on on the swim platform. I also tied the bow line to a cleat. It worked quite well. I would HIGHLY recommend using ratchet straps with closed hooks vs. open S hooks.

These are the loops I used from Amazon.
