The "virus" What are your thoughts

Who's exempted? In other words, who essential? And who are poor saps that are "un-essential."
Gas stations, grocery stores, and public service are exempted. Unfortunately im in the unessential crowd....anyone wanna buy a boat? The economic fallout from this is going to be felt for decades. We will be back to the basics. Food and Shelter.

I think we are under a state-mandated quarantine. Not sure because I haven't heard anything about it. It's not affecting a lot of people, or at least they're ignoring it to some degree.

Yesterday was beautiful: 70*, light breezes, and the bike path along the river was heavily used.

If anyone is doing the math, 353k cases have been confirmed for the duration of this thing, and of those 15k have died. So that’s a 4% mortality rate. Granted some areas are much lower (South Korea and Germany at less than 1%) and some much higher (Italy close to 10%). Many people in Italy are dying because they are not able to get medical care. The opposite is true in South Korea where they aggressively prepared for this since the onset in December (even when there were no infections in S Korea yet ..they were getting ready).

No one is quite sure why people in Germany aren’t getting that sick though.

From what I see the mortality rate here in the states is still around 1.3%.
Ohio’s health director did say he expects 60% of Ohio’s population to get it.

WV just issued a stay at home order effective immediately.

According to this site, https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/us/ and it's updated constantly, the US, so far, has a much lower death rate. We have 40855 cases and 484 deaths. Just a little over 1 percent death rate. Italy, with almost 10 percent death rate is really skewing the world curve.
New York...the hot spot is at 0.9%... we are doing good compared... just need to keep it there

Washington State is not under a stay at home mandate....yet.
Our work finally made the call for us to not go to work, they really drug their feet.

Two possible reasons for Italy numbers being so high.
1. Older population.
2. Healthcare and Dr. appointments are hard to get with their socialized medical system so population isn’t as healthy as they would otherwise be.

Yes hope so, but too early to tell what the mortality rate here will be. Many cases in the US (and Canada) still haven't had an outcome. Out of all cases, you have (at least) an additional 3% reported in serious or critical condition.

Add in a history of smoking and the fact that they kiss, twice, when they greet.

A friend went to the gas station at midnight last night to avoid people. He asked how business was, surprisingly he was told they been real busy....out of town and out of state people. We're in a popular area, lakes and fishing. Lots of city folks own 'cabins' in the northwoods so maybe it's just them.

I sure hope it isn't a bunch of those 'when the shit hits the fan' people. I used to go to their forums for entertainment. I had some good laughs at them boys...they were all getting ready to grab their 'bug out bags' full of guns, bullets, Bic lighters, and head north.:p

3 week minimum "Stay at Home" executive order starting Midnight tomorrow for Michigan
Well this is interesting... I am told I am exempt and essential... 100% buy in from the employees to stay open... problem is this comes from our suppliers and customer's interpretation of the Law.... it's impossible to get clarification from the government right now....
