I have a 06 240 Sundeck with a mercruiser 350 MPI. I need a new cool fuel module and a exhaust riser and manifold kit. Where is the best place to look? I’m looking online and I can’t find the part number for the cool fuel module. Any insight would be helpful, thanks!

Mercury has a service bulletin out on the fuel module. Depending on what's wrong with it, they may replace it. Free parts, you pay labor.

The cool fuel module is leaking from the body and needs to be replaced. I need the part number to search for it. I don’t think it isn’t covered by any recall.

Hey Jason,
The cool fuel module replacement part number is #8M0047215. Had mine replaced on my 2008 Sundeck at a cost of $1255.00. I wrote to Searay requesting a reimbursement for the part due to the service bulletin 2009-1 they released. The claim made was way back in January 2020 and have not had a reply yet. Something is the matter for sure.
Had my risers and manifolds replaced which I purchased from Michigan Motors.
Hope this helps.

In order for Mercury to consider replacing you would likely need to substantiate failure due to flaking paint gumming up the pumps and down line fuel system. And at that i believe they're now saying they will only replace the lid as they claim that was the painted part that failed. I'm not aware of other recalls on the module . They are expensive and i replaced two on my 2005 350 mags to the tune of about $3500. That was in 2017 and i wasn't educated on the issue, but last year i was thinking about it and i wrote Mercury, thinking what the heck, nothing to lose. They requested proof, which i had along with pictures of the inside of the modules and pumps, and they did reimburse me i think about $1200. I thought that to be fair considering it was 2 years after the fact. If you have an authorized Mercury shop near you take the part or pictures in to them. That's probably your best shot at getting some replacement assistance before raking the money out of pocket

Sounds like the water fittings leaking. There's a guy that made some replacement one out of stainless steel. They work great, and are a lot cheaper than replacing the module.
I can pm you his info if you want to see if he has any left.
I did my leaking one last summer, and the other one this past weekend.

Hi, honestly I have no idea if a new fitting will help it. I’m going by what the dealer said needed to be replaced.

I am replacing OEM manifolds next season. Did you find the Barr’s to be of good quality? They certainly are less expensive than the Merc manifolds.

I was advised by an authorized Mercruiser service manager that Barr should last for 4 years compared to Merc 5 years. Do the math.
I saved a lot of money by not replacing the spacers but sanding them down and just replaced the gaskets. That was an honest service guy's advice.

Good info. The spacers are pretty simple to inspect and clean. They are surprisingly expensive too. I thought about having a machine shop just smooth the mating surfaces next year to make sure I get a good seal. Probably a lot cheaper than replacement.
A mechanic told me the OEM Mercs are ceramic coated on the inside while after markets are just painted.
I have the old wet-joint style OEMs now and am considering converting to dry joint next year. Still lots of cash either way.
JasonS, really good question here. Thanks.

Is the years of service for the barr manifold for salt water or fresh water? My primary boating is a fresh water lake.

Good news for you being in fresh water. My boat was used in salt but dry stacked otherwise.
Hope this helps.
