Davit Reality

Never an issue. The Hurley straps keep it tight to the Davit. I’ve had it in 4-5 footers with no issue. I did have a single trailing wave one time the pushed the dinghy out of the cradle but never off completely

On my setup I decided to get a small "block and tackle" pulley setup with a lock cam. I attach a clip to the dinghy and then with one hand I can pull the relatively thin nylon line with one hand bit by bit. The cam keeps the line from reversing and dropping the dinghy back in and gives me plenty of time to adjust as need be before pulling it into position. The other end of the pulley setup is clipped to a stainless rail in the cockpit. Very easy to use and the pulleys allow you to quadruple your pulling force.

Would you share the make/model of the worm gear winch you used?
Thx, Doug

I think I got it from McMaster Carr
Precise-Positioning Hand Winches for Wire Rope—For Horizontal Pulling

These winches move loads more gradually than standard hand winches. They take longer to wind but require less effort.

For wire rope, see Wire Rope with Hook for Winches.

Note: Capacity is highest for the first layer of rope (at least five wraps of rope on the winch) and decreases as each additional layer of rope is wound on the winch.

Phasma, nice pictures, did you add the extensions and can you remove them when not in use?

Those look more 'home made' than the extension offered by Hurley - Its a big pill to swallow to get the ones offered by Hurley - it's an additional $1500... not even sure if I need them for my 420 - but the idea of not being able to walk past the dink on the platform isn't appealing to me.

Hi Everyone,
I am in the market for a Hurley system for my 2004 340. I was going to go with the H2O but even with two of us I fear it could put our backs out due to the height.

couple of questions.
How do you bolt through the swim platform? the entry hole is tiny?
How do you support the motor? out H2O we rested the skeg on the platform with a rubber cushion

All the best
Tenderless for now
Michael

Have you considered one of these? After shoulder surgery I figured it was time to make things a little easier.

so looks like I will join the H30 club ;) but still curious how you mount these to the swim platform in fact any bolt through? the access looks near impossible? any tips for a 340 with outdrives.

A guy I know (two people actually) had a Sea Weed Tender roller that worked really well for his center console dinghy on a Regal 4260. Really easy to pull up his tender on the platform. Can get it with a power winch too. Canadian made, all stainless steel. Very pricey though.

That's not pricey, that's ridiculous.

Agreed, those prices are totally nuts. I looked at them for about a minute before I got my current system. In addition to being insanely expensive, they seem to be large and difficult to store when not in use.

I have a searay 340. I was able to get a deal on the H20 system and a 10’ hard bottom rib. I have a 2stoke 10hp motor (paid 300). The H20 has the 36” extension. I am nervous about loading the Rib. How would I install a winch and would that even help me with loading? Where could I install this. Want to make sure I can get it out of the water.

I went with the H30. Yes...expensive, but I can get my 8’-6” with 10HP 2-stroke up by myself without the winch. I do it with one hand on the dink and the other on the transom door handle. The 340 platform sits high off the water so it takes considerable effor. I might break down and try the winch next season. If you have a smaller engine you shouldn’t need to use the winch. Overall, I’m very happy with it. I still have room to cross to the starboard rear cleat, and access the transom locker for water and EL hook ups.

I am Experiencing the same issue with my swim platform height. Hurley, told me that I needed the extensions otherwise I might be too short. Are you using the extensions for your debit or just mounted it is standard. My dinghy is about 1 foot longer than yours.

The H30 worked great for us over the last few years. We are looking to move up next season, but the H30 has been a major plus for our 340. Most likely, we will carry it over to our next boat. Attached is the best pic I have.

Do you have the extension? Do you have to use the winch? Any issue with the winch hitting the transom?

Fitted ours on our 340. with a 5' wide rib it is tight to squeeze behind! I would get the extension.

Do you have to keep the winch on? Are you able to lift without the winch?
Winch and arm just slides off. The importance is to make sure the winch arm is set long enough so you can winch the dinghy up enough to obtain central pivot point. you will find this pretty much is the back of the davit ramp being as far back as the dinghy Transom. Fit the H3O as a 60:40 offset on the swim platform.
