Seen this going down the highway. It just didn’t look safe. 35’ and I guess 17K lbs.

Looks like a dealer. Maybe moving a boat, but I would agree 1/2 ton with that much boat on a wet highway is a recipe for disaster.

It is tough to tell from the distance in the picture. It however is more than likely a 3/4 or 1 Ton truck. I think if it was a 1/2 ton it would be squatting from all the tongue weight.

That is a 2500 and it looks like it probably has helper air bags in the back.......but still probably heavier than the rated capacity of the truck. Certainly has the wrong height ball mount for that trailer too. The trailer i had for my 26DA needed a (if i remember correctly) a 8" or 10" ball mount flipped to up to ride level....behind a F250 on 33's. Super high mount. The tailgate would just barely clear the ball when lowered.

Not a half ton - can tell by the wheels and the rear diff. Can't tell if it's 3/4 or 1 ton, though. But depending on the year/make/engine a 3/4 may be OK. A 1-ton is better. But there's also a very noticeable difference in the ability of a dually in terms of stability - especially when stopping fast during an avoidance maneuver. Stopping, of course, is more important.

Tongue height isn't horrible - but it is a little low.

No idea on whether it has bags/helper springs. But, boat loading/position can affect/offset tongue weight.

Doable... but done cautiously.

Taking pictures from the fast lane may be just as dangerous... :) Just messin...

My 2018 2500 Ram 6.4 Hemi is rated to tow either 15,600 or 16,500 (can't remember now). My payload is about 3100lbs. A SRW diesel can tow about 1000-2000 more but has much lower payload. He may be legal but is probably cutting it real close. If I was going any distance I would want a dually for that but if it's a flat drive a few miles down the road he might be ok.

And if was a Ford it probably would have never started....lol j/k

I have a Ford Super Duty diesel, as a matter of full disclosure.
I was watching 3 guys push an F150 down a snowy road, and my esteemed colleague that was sitting next to me made a Ford break down joke. "Those Fords should come with heated tailgates." That's funny regardless of brand loyalty.

The first time I pulled My brand new Rinker 270 Fiesta Vee out of the lake with my brand new GMC 2500 RWD crew cab truck I had the embarrassing adventure of having made it 1/2 wayup a wet ramp when the traction gave up. I had to be pulled the rest of the way up the lengthy ramp by an F250! My next purchase was a set of more aggressive mud and snow tires! That was an expensive boating year. Except for having to put about 400 lbs in the bed to get traction on our unusually steep ramp, the 2500HD with the 350 was plenty of truck for the 270 but when we went to the Rinker 350 I was done. Boat came out by way of professional hauler for major services.

Yeah. A guy at our marina had a 2015 310DA and towed it with a 2015 2500 4x4 Denali 6.0 gasser. He ended up with a 2017 2500 Duramax but then moved to a 2017 350DA and now the marina hauls it...lol

Yup!
'01 Quattro Coupe 225 6spd
Love that car! Bought it with 9K in '01 miles and rolling strong at 220k

I also had an 01, a roadster. I bought it new and traded it in with 19k miles in when we bought the Panamera in 2018.

It was a great car. I loved it, but there was no storage, the top folded down into the already tiny trunk, and there was no back seat area.

I had a TT for a short time when I was in-between company cars... I worked for a medium sized corporation at the time and got a substantial car allowance... well out of the blue my boss the CEO is flying in on the company jet and asked me to pick him up at the airport.....so away I went in the TT.....the next day I get a call from corporate ...it was the CFO and he told me to get a proper car..... been driving 4 door Lexus' ever since :(
