hi, my alarm is going off as soon as you start the engine. Looking at the wiring manual seems to be two sensors/switches that combine that can set alarm off. As engine is cold and oil pressure gauge is good, I assume i have just a switch or wiring problem. Can anybody help the diagnosis and how to fault find it. One question, I had the outdrive oil changed in the winter, but I assume the oil pressure switch is measuring the main engine

The other thing that will sound the alarm in your setup is the drive fluid. Check the bottle and/or the float switch inside. Disconnect one of the bottle's wires, if you want to, to double check.

Mine does this every year, dealer says that after changing outdrive oil it gets an air bubble in the system, after it burps your oil is just below the fill line. Just pour in a few oz.'s of oil and alarm will go away

My factory depth sounder alarm was messed with unknown to me and that really threw me for a loop on my first trip of engine trials when you are waiting for something to go wrong! I agree with the gear oil alarm. You can disconnect the wires to the gear oil bottle and connect them with a small piece of wire to jump out the switch. That will trick the computer into thinking the switch is closed and satisfied and not give an alarm. This will at least isolate the issue quicker. Then return to normal setup after you determined the issue.

Just an FYI... you don't have to jump it. Just disconnect one of the wires to deactivate the sensor.

Thanks for all the replies. The problems was a bad connection on the oil presure sensor. Looking at the wiring diagrams I have , the alarm only has 2 inputs, the oil and water temp sensors. So advocates ce above about a gear oil sensor doesn't tally with the diagrams.

Forget the diagrams. Physically look at it. In 1999, it was standard issue to have an outdrive fluid sensor. Look at the bottle. Unless, the European boats, for some strange reason, never had that feature - but I wouldn't know anything about that.

But at least you found the issue!
