Good afternoon - I'll first apologize if this request is one that has already been posted. Did a search and couldn't find with specificity. That said, first, does anyone know the model number for the clarion system on the 2000 340 DA. It has the 6 disc changer networked. If so, has anyone any suggestions for the Clairon upgrade to include bluetooth? At one time I had seen a plug and play model to include new wired remote, but can not find the link.

Any advice on this or other upgrades that don't include cutting new holes would be greatly appreciated. Thx in advance.

Best,

Mike

Your wired remote will not work with any new models from Clarion. The last Clarion that works with the old remote is the discontinued CMD-5, but it does not have bluetooth (you can use an bluetooth adapter to the aux port). That is my set up. I chose the CMD-5 to use my remote. But the new ones have wireless remotes so no longer an issue. I deleted the 6 CD changer. And I use that space for storage. The stereo size is the standard small car stereo. Not sure what it is called. I also cut a hole in the door to allow access to the head unit without opening the door. Here are a couple pics (taken with a fish eye lens - sorry)

I bought an inexpensive BT receiver, that plugs into the aux jacks in the back of the clarion. Connected to 12v, and now I have any phone playing music easily without range of the boat. Is that what you are looking for?

Id say that you have an XMD series. I do not think any of them, the 1, 2 or 3, had AUX-In plugs, so no adding a BT receiver to it.

Any wired remotes will not work, so factor remotes and their extension cables.

The Clarion M608 should come very close to covering the XMD footprint and had integrated BT.

Are you existing remotes oval? The new round remotes should cover that, IF you have room height wise.

Thanks for this. Nice work. I believe my model is M5470 but have to check when back at the boat.

Need to check to see if my present model has aux jacks. This could save some bucks. How did you connect to 12V? Thanks

The one I have is rechargeable and lasts as long as I need, so I did not wire it in for power. Its plugged into the AUX/RCA jacks with a RCA splitter to 1/8 female jack. IT plugs into that. When I took the CD changer out, that space now gives me access to plug in and out that Bluetooth dongle. If I did not have that access, I would use a wired one and tap into the 12v power to the stereo head unit.

I don’t recall exactly how I spliced in the 12V, I am guessing I traced the 12V red and black from the clarion back to the nearest splice/butt connector, then cut it and re-spliced with 3 wires instead of 2. Also, very possible there was a 12v bus back there, and I simply connected to an open spot. If I were to do it again, I would mount the PolyPlanar under the helm, connect red/black using one of the open spots on the fuse bar at the helm. Then, use RCA extender to run the RCA plugs back to the AUX plugs of the Clarion .

I had an XMD3 and it does have an aux input. Page 8 of manual. I had my tv connected to play directv music channels pre-spotify. Hook up the bluetooth adapter and you have bluetooth. You can even set the sensitivity of the input.

It had been quite some time since ive touched one, but oddly enough, I swapped an XMD3 out for an M508 on Friday.

The XMD3 does has rear AUX.

I have the same boat (340Sundancer) as MSBALLIN above with the same (original) Clarion M5470 stereo radio. The radio works fine.
I do not use the 6CD changer nor do I use the cassette for playing cassettes anymore. However, I DO use the cassette player for a wireless bluetooth adapter that allows me to play music from my phone.
For years, the BT adapter has worked well. However, this year the adaptor is not working properly. It only plays 1 channel rather than 2 stereo channels. If I put my finger into the cassette slot, and push on the BT adapter, it works. Once I remove my finger, it only plays 1 channel.
I see the latest info above was provide 3 years ago. I want to either: (1) upgrade the radio with BT capability, OR, (2) buy/use a bluetooth adapter allowing me to play music via my phone. It's also important that I can still be able to use the controls located on my dashboard. I use them often and I still want to use that feature.

Since the radio/stereo/BT adapter info, in the thread above, is 3+ years old, can anyone make a recommendation for either:
(1) suggest a New Radio that I can swap for the old radio (ideally, an easy as possible swap out/swap in installation)???
(2) And/or suggest a new bluetooth adapter???

Thanks

I easily added a Fusion MS-BT-100 to my Clarion XMD3 and it worked like a charm, I now just use my phone for music and volume control. It just connected to the RCA aux jacks plus a 12v power source. They are about $80 (CDN) on Amazon (so probably about $50 USD.

Thanks White Shadow.
FYI, I do not have the Clarion XMD3. I have the ClarionM5470.
So, while I DO appreciate the suggestion, I am unclear if that solution works for me and for my piece of equipment.
Unless I am misunderstanding you. SO, are you saying that the Fusion MS-BT-100 works for both (our) component pieces??

Sorry for the delayed response, we’ve been away on the hook for a while.
If you have RCA auxiliary input jacks on that model then yes it should work.
