I bought a 2020 SPX190 4.5L 200hp IO a few weeks ago. Still working on the break-in time - just under 10hrs. First ride out had a lot of rattles. Water ski compartment door, rear floor compartment door, and side door compartment needed to have their latches adjusted so when latched down, latches were snug. Bigger issue was the instrument panel was not screwed down to the dash compartment - panel was bouncing around. flipped the panel down and saw the screw studs, washers and nuts also bouncing around. last issue I haven't fixed yet - I have a toggle labeled "courtesy light". The toggle has a blue light in the tip of the toggle. The blue light turns on when toggled. But no other light comes on. I asked the dealer about it. Response was "some boats have a courtesy light, some dont". If I had a courtesy light, where would it be? Anyone else experience the issues I had. This is my first boat. I didn't expect to do some fixes/repairs on a new boat.

Personally, I'd be making a list and having the dealer do it, even if it is simple. You paid for a new boat, it's part of the price. If they muck something up fixing the little things, they have to make it right. If you muck something up, it's your problem. I wouldn't be making adjustments if I bought a new car/truck/camper/etc either.

Courtesy light, you're looking for something that illuminates passages or somehow makes navigating or boarding the boat easier at night. I don't know you're model, but you're looking for a light at the swim platform, at the windshield walk through, or maybe by the bow seats.

Thank you for your reply. I called the sales rep and explained the issues. His reply was he didnt have anyone available to send to the boat. My boat is at a marina 2hrs away. Best he could do was to give me a break on winterization. Thank you for your suggestions on where the courtesy light might be. I will keep looking for it.

A break on winterization! That’s a joke right.

Regarding the courtesy light, it may be only pre wired for the light.

My God! Didn’t the dealer do any inspection before delivering the boat to you?

Dealers like them is what makes the case for getting surveys on new boats. In fact, a new boat will have any number of bugs that a surveyor can spot before you take delivery.

I’m evolving in what I’m looking for in my next boat. Definitely looking at 1-3 year old boat that has some warranty left.

Once I find it I’m hiring the meanest, nastiest, crotchety old salt surveyor to nit pick everything.

I want to trailer from the dealer to the boat ramp and just turn the key and go.

I have a 2020 SPX 190 as well. I had the same issue where both control panels were not tight and wiggled around. Also my blower went out the second day I owned the boat. My dealer picked up the boat from marina and fixed both issues. My marina and dealer are about 500 yards apart though.

As for the switch/lights, I have the switch as well. My dealer told me that switch was for LED lights they can run under the seats as an option. Apparently the switch is there whether they install LEDs or not.
