Stupidly used a screwdriver to try to break up
Ice buildup inside my icemaker. Just barely punctured bottom of floor and a bunch of Freon started spraying out. Had no idea the thin floor had Freon underneath it. Looks like the icemaker is ruined? Just ordered a 2.5 cu in cockpit fridge from Home Depot to replace (found on thread from CSR). Don’t use a sharp object to try to break up the ice buildup.

Yep. Did that to my NorCold galley freezer many years ago. Unbelievable how thin that aluminum chill plate is. Slightly thicker than tinfoil but not as thick as a Coke can!!

hopefully it is thicker than a modern Coke or a beer can. The new cans are so thin I’ve had them pop while unloading the cases out of the car, pop from bumping into one another in a cooler of water and ice, these cans nowadays are thinner than paper. LOL

I've got an OEM Icerette I'm selling if the fridge doesn't work for you. The compressor is noisy, still works, would be great for parts. Bonus, I'm in Michigan.

If I were a betting man...there's no way you're getting a dorm fridge in there. I spent two years trying to find a way around the $1k replacement before finally giving up. If you find a way to make a $160 fridge fit in that slot I am NOT qualified to run a tapemeasure :):)

I posted my experience in the 400/410 thread.

I'm confused. You seem to state here it's impossible, but your links takes me to your very nice fridge install? The one I bought will fit except it's too deep. There's something along the top of that cavity that will not allow the fridge to go all the way back. It appears you removed that?

What I linked is the $1,000+ fridge I was trying to avoid buying, but eventually did after 2 years of searching for a dorm fridge that would fit :) There are no dorm fridges that will fit our opening that I'm aware of. None I found would even get close when you measure from the gunnel.

That ridge along the top of the cavity is the gunnel of the boat. Once you've dealt with height, depth is a problem too. The AC outlet is directly behind the fridge robbing an inch or two of space. The door latch mechanism also takes up a couple inches in front.

I am fully prepared to eat my words here! But I'm pretty sure you just bought yourself a nice new fridge...for your garage :)

I should clarify - one of those tiny <1 cubic foot dorm fridges might possibly fit in that space. When I say "none that I could find" I was never considering the tiny cube style fridges. I was looking at 1.5cf and above.

Ok understand. No I can return to Home Depot.
Ok I give. How in the hell do You remove the icemaker? There is no clearance? It looks like searay rebuilt the boat around the icemaker? How did you get yours out?
