Need information on the optimal location of the tube for a bow thruster in a 1995 SeaRay 400 Express Cruiser. Is there anyone at Brunswick Corp I can contact for dimensions to the location?

Are you going to install this yourself? If not and you take your boat to a shop that specializes in installing thrusters, they will know the location where the tube goes.

I have a fiberglass professional installing it, just curious if SeaRay engineers had a planned location

You probably should check with your Thruster supplier first. Brunswick subs out the installation of bow thrusters. The usual suspects, SidePower and Vetus probably have some installation data that would be useful....but there is nothing as useful as finding one installed on your model boat.

On mine....it had to fit between two bulkheads located below the v berth. There was no other place to put it without removing a bulkhead. We pulled the reverse cycle unit out and opened up the compartment flooring to get the necessary access. We located the batteries in an existing compartment below the v berth by building a shelf for them to rest on.

If I recall...the thruster tube had to be be 8" below the resting water line. That plus the compartment location limited where it could go.

If you are looking for an exact diagram......I will be surprised if you find one that is model specific.

This was provided by CS @ SeaRay...

For what it's worth.... you can use a small portable laser level to find and mark the exact location of the 187 3/4" dimension as well as the other dimention center points on the uneven hull. I bought an inexpensive Bosch laser level at the blue store (Lowes) for my home remodel projects and it has come in handy for many other projects! It has a vertical level line option that will work perfectly for your project.

Just go as big as you can. I have one on our boat and it is useless other than attaching bow lines. Any wind at 12kts or more and the wind wins every time. I have the 6 blade, but the tube is too small. Not enough water flow.
