Whats with the Facebook banner inviting us to join the facebook group?

Just resurrecting this thread about the Facebook site. Maybe the mods can wade in, but it seems I am getting many more Facebook type ads popping up and I am concerned that CSR is planning to fully and completely migrate to Facebook. If that is the case "I am out". I have no interest in Facebook and I find that the organization of the new site "sucks" for finding things. Facebook is a "click bait" nightmare and will take away a lot of what I like about CSR, which is threaded topics that I can chose to read/respond or not. I am not forced to wade through crap I don't want to.

And related to ads, I am really starting to hate the site with the pop-up ads. It is now almost unusable on an iPhone with no opt out. I have been Gold sponsoring for years and its really starting to bug me that I pay twice, once for the sponsorship and again selling my attention to advertisers.

Agreed to both points. Facebook stinks as a searchable forum.

Perhaps I misunderstood, but I thought sponsorship came with an ad-free experience (except the sidebar ads, which are ok). The new ad format is getting irritating.

I use "Crystal" ad blocker on my iPhone and iPad and I do not see any ads while on CSR.

I joined the Carver Owners Group on FB and frankly think it sucks. I like being able to visit specific threads for specific models. I joined the Carver owners forum as well and have found that there is just not that much interaction. I don't know if that says something about Carver owners in general? I am glad that I had this site to enjoy over the last five years and plan to follow as a former Sea Ray owner.
Carpe Diem

I’ve said this before
I post my repair photos on Facebook in public albums but thats it
Everything else is locked down

I joined when my daughter got a smartphone and started high school
“Dad owns the phone you block me you lose the phone”
Now she is 26 and is a teacher.
But hmmm, it’s still Dad’s phone...

We are not migrating to Facebook. I just have the group there to give our Facebook using members a place to check in with each other on that platform. Facebook is great for the minute to minute chit chat. Forums like CSR are great for building an archive of usable info, and more rich conversations.

Sponsors are not supposed to see any of those popups. The only ads sponsors should see are the banner ads on the right and one up top which are ads from our specific boating advertisers like NBOA Insurance. It is hard to figure out what shows where and when, so I will keep working on it. I'll try to tweak it some tonight on my ipad.

The banner ad up top for facebook is what the software called a notice. Once you click the X you should never see it again.

If you are on a ipad or iphone you will get a popup ad everytime you click on a forum... you have to delete the ad to get around it...very frustrating
I am now getting the ad pop-ups on Safari on a Mac. Started with the latest update which was billed as making MacOS and iOS more similar. Very annoying.

For your investigative info, on my iOS devices I'm consistently getting the popup adds like the one @Blueone posted. This happens when clicking on a thread and it covers the whole page. It seems like a Google-driven add. In the last week I also started to get the some type on my desktop (Chrome).

I have seen various posts about ads on CSR. I have no problems with ads at all on any of my devices for CSR or any other website. I have posted this previously and I will repost it now.

On Google Chrome I use "Ad Block Plus" it works great and I never see any unwanted ads or pop ups on any site including CSR.

On my IOS devices I use "Crystal" ad blocking. It also works great and eliminates unwanted pop up ads.

They are worth the investment!
