So just what are the rules of engagement here as to what constitutes a “political post“?

If someone makes a post about gasoline and someone points out that Congress caused the problem, does that constitute a political post? We used to have a weeks long threads discussing things that affect our world.

The President of the United States contracting a deadly disease it’s certainly not political.

We’ve never allowed nor have there ever been, to my knowledge, out and out vote for Joe for Office. But it just seems we’re getting a little too strict on what we throw to the holding tank now.

So one member here wants policies in place that keep gas prices low so the family can boat a lot. Another member wants policies in place to save the lake from destruction. Is that politics? Or is that just Boating life?

Don’t let cancel culture come to CSR! Let’s all get along and live through Boating life together, just like we do with the real dock...

IMO politics in normal posts, and in the Tiki Bar in particular, should be OK. Name calling and abusiveness is not OK. The policy should be focused on actions/words of members, not the topics. If members stick to the topic and abandon name calling all should be good.

The problem is that even what seems to start out non-political (POTUS got the Flu) turns into a pissing match between the liberals and the conservatives and even the Canadians.

True. It seems that rather than try to moderate the discussions and privately taking to task those the moderators think are being abusive, etc., it's easiest for the moderators to junk the whole discussion because it's a boating forum.

We try not to Junk anything until it is reported. Keep in mind we all have real jobs. (Well some of us do :)) If you want to keep posting to the thread just go to the holding tank. Very rarely are threads closed/deleted. Thanks

Understood and your efforts are appreciated. As others have noted, the issue with the holding tank is there seems to be no mechanism to be alerted to subsequent posts.

That is correct when it gets moved it does not show up in the daily post anymore. You have to go there and check to see if anything has been posted.

Society has gotten soft and over sensitive. See all the metrosexuals, snowflakes, and some millennials.

As a woman at the bar said to me recently...” honey, there are no men.”

I couldn’t agree more.

And yes, I picked up her tab and stood up when she went to the powder room.

You can also subscribe to the thread to get alerts of replies.
I know of the feature to ignore a specific user.
Is there a similar method to ignore a thread or a whole forum from?
So it wont show up in new posts.

No it's a concept called free will. Most thread titles are indicative of the subject and you won't be lured out of your 'safe space' into a scary thread that will hurt your feelers. Simply open only threads you are sure your mommy will approve of and would let you read. Really?

Too much caffeine today?
A user asks a valid question on how the forum works, and you choose to berate them and not answer the question, yet telling them not to read things or respond to things that they might not appreciate. Hmmm , isn’t that a great example of situational irony?

You can go to your profile. There is a setting so (normally as soon as you post or reply it sets watch thread) you uncheck box to watch threads. Works wonders, keeps your cardiologist very happy.
