Well, it's starting....sooner than I had hoped. Prices are going up. All this free money is putting pressure on supply. So with a new occupant of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, let's keep track of the cost of a few things.

Gasoline: $2.04 ---> $2.39 per gallon
Booze, 1.5 L $26.31 ---> $29.47 (Evan Williams) That's a 12% increase.

Oh my, I might have to ram folks with my shopping cart again so I can get the last roll of ass wipe.:eek:

I do HVAC, you haven’t seen anything yet. The Paris Climate Accord you will be replacing refrigeration equipment not repairing it.

We live in Canada. Looking at last months natural gas bill we paid $55 for 20 gigajoules or about 20K cubic feet at a rate of $2.50 per gigajoule. We have a carbon tax in Canada and it was $34 on natural gas that is about $1.70 a gigajoule. The carbon tax is $30 a tonne now and is to go to $170 a tonne (2200 pounds) by 2030. In the US you do not have a carbon tax. Get ready. No carbon tax on fire wood yet.

Yep. I posted a few days ago that local stations have raised their prices by .20-.30/gallon since inauguration day. Drove past again today and they are still the same as they were last weekend. I said in that post look for $5/gallon this summer and $8 by next summer

Seems a bit early to claim causation vs correlation...but I enjoy watching these conversations!

Kills me the way Biden supporters fail to see the obvious path this administration is taking and how it deminishes their standard of living. I just don't understand their thinking.
Because most of his supporters don't work for a living

How about considering the obvious? Prices were low because of the pandemic, and rising in anticipation of the roll out of the Vaccine and mass vaccinations and a return to normalcy. So in this case it really is: Thank You former President Trump!

When oil was $140 a barrel fuel prices were not three times what they are now. Oil is now $48 a barrel. In Canada car gas was $1.25 a liter now it is $1.05. Boat gas was $1.65 in Canada on our way to Alaska in Alaska it was around $1.20 CDN ($4.80 US a gallon). Inflation and taxes have increased. Hamburger used to be $1.99 now it is $4.99 a pound.

I have said this before... I have a Dem neighbor and we got in an argument about raising school taxes significantly... Their point was it will be better for the children... it got voted in and nothing, absolutely nothing changed at the school district other than raises for Admin and teachers and 4 new golf carts for the football team

If you use US Govt indices the trends are remarkably similar between crude and regular unleaded. Total increase may not directly correlate due to crude not being the only component of finished fuel pricing to the consumer? Refining, distribution and tax play a big part. As crude goes up some/all of the other cost components could remain the same or even decrease? Not an expert by any means.

Yesterday, standing at the meat counter and the old lady next to me was going off about the hamburger price, and i agree. Burgers at fast food joints are getting priced to where McD, BK, and Wendy can kiss my butt. At our local sub shop, subs that were $5 - $6 a year ago are up to $10 - $12 now. Dont even bother getting a printed menu, the prices change by the time you walk out the door.

Shoot deer. Cheap hamburger. .80$ a pound processed. I could do it myself cheaper, but I'm too lazy.

So find a way to get a Republican elected next time and find a way to win over moderate democrats to the republican side over issues like this. You won't convince any of them if your would be leaders keep telling democrats that they are stupid or unemployed freerollers. Or keep doing what you are doing.

I really fear for the future of conservatism because you seem to think you can prevail by demonizing moderate left leaners. It just won't work.

We have the same issue in Canada right now. Our conservative leaders here think they can win by moving hard right. It just won't happen. And I hate it. It plays right into the Liberals hands.
