Updating Dash Panels, Actuators, Gauges and Electronics

This thread got me thinking... I need to update my dash
Working on ordering some stuff now.

Can anyone tell me if these rocker switch covers from this site will work for my existing switches? Are they pretty standard or are there several different types/part #'s

I just ordered all new rockers and push to reset breakers from them. Along with a new dimmer switch. My understanding is the switch covers are interchangeable. They mention it in their descriptions.

Thanks Hawk, just ordered from that site. I was surprised they didn't have a fridge one as well... Low Beer alarm it is. Although, that will certainty never be true!
Just a heads up that I had to open the breaker holes slightly before installing the new ones. Here's what it looks like after paint:

Nice! That looks sharp. I think I am going to try a carbon fiber wrap, see how she goes. I will post pictures once my complete upgrade is done with new steering wheel, gauges and all!

Thanks. I was going to do a wrap or hydro dip, but in the end I just wanted something clean for the dash. I ended up using some silver metallic VHT ceramic engine header paint that I had. Nice and durable.

Yea sometimes simple and clean is the way to go! I figured I'll try the wrap for how cheap it is. If it doesn't work or last long then I'll go your route

Looks very nice! And the huge benefit to painting is that for $7, you can have a new color any time you want! I painted my gauge panel (woodgrain "look" that was fading), as well. This was a plastic-type panel so I used a base color of Krylon for Plastic (this was about 10 years ago), then top coated with regular spray paint as there were more options for regular paint.

Thanks. I was thinking about it and figured the silver would go with the trim around my gauges as well as the little bit of chrome up there. It worked out pretty well.

I ended up using the vinyl wrap. I think it looks pretty good, we will see how well this stuff holds up tho.

Hawk you mentioned you are replacing the electro luminescence strips, where did you find these? I'm considering re-using my existing ones, but not sure the best method to. Do I need to find like double sided clear tape??

Looks great. I found the EL strips at adafruit. The inverter I got from them is awful though. It makes a loud noise like a transformer. It quiets down with more EL tape, so I think it's just too high wattage.

The strips have adhesive on them already, but it doesn't stick well. I used glue and HVAC aluminum tape to hold it down. Be real careful placing it. If not perfect some letter won't light up.
You can easily cut one piece in half and use both pieces because the strips have connections on both ends.
Be careful of the oval letter inserts. If you scratch the coating taking the old EL strips off the light will shine through in that spot. Needs something besides paint to black it out again.

Has anyone had any experience upgrading from toggles to rockers? FP has the panel .
Easy. A switch is a switch is a switch. If you have room for everything, it's just a matter of getting the same style (poles/throws) switch and moving the wires over. Take notes/label wires.
