Boat Info
2006 Sea Ray 270 SLX. 8.2 Mag Upgrade.
Engines
8.2 Mag, Bravo Drive
Aloha Club!

Asking help, need hull blueprints! Manufacturer refuses to share with customers.

1. 2006 Sea Ray SLX 270.

2. Waterlogged floatation foam, under the deck. I believe its from rain that entered some screw holes in bilge area in ski storage, and also at one (1x) exposed foam-fill plug when the batteries were dead and pumps not running. Probably sat for about a year, filling up with rain under the deck area.

3. WILLING TO PAY FOR BASIC HULL BLUEPRINTS!

Hawaii has little to no repair support for this issue, no dehumidifier booths, stuck on an island, etc. (I have purchase expensive professional dehumidifiers for DIY work) so I just need location of bulkheads. NO, I'm not willing to tear open the decks until I try a less-destructive method first...

Otherwise great boat, has been upgraded to newer 8.2 Mag, runs and goes!

Hope someone can steer me in the right direction! Am happy to share outcomes of my endeavor if I can get some traction!

Appreciate all....

Welcome aboard not too familiar with the boat but I am very familiar with repair process to a wet core ,in your case it’s foam not really sure if any amount of dehumidification tools actually going to dry that out , unfortunately I feel you have to carve out that foam then use the dehumidifiers to dry the hull and then re-foam and repair the deck on top. foam is not like wood it will hold moisture indefinitely when it is a close environment. There is a company called dry boat stateside that is known and very good for drying wood hulls but we’re only talking about a balsa core here, and still takes
6 to 8 weeks of 24 hour a day dehumidifying and drying of the core with high volume air pumps with drill holes all over the boat unfortunately with foam , when it becomes saturated the only fix is to remove it. Chances are if it’s been there for a number of years any wood that the foam came in contact with is rotted as well. Good luck

Thanks Joeyleggz, appreciate the response! You are a good Samaritan for sharing your knowledge with a stranger Sir. Advice heard.

Still hoping for those blueprints so I know whats under there and the areas to be aware of, scooping foam or otherwise.... anyone?

Aloha,

Maybe explore the Sea Ray owners site https://www.searay.com/us/en/owners.html ....there you can find the models parts manual which will contain some drawings that may help...

As far as drying foam, there is not a good way to - it only can be dried by containing it in a aired environment with the moisture being drawn out over a lengthy period of time and then any damage to the structural components will still exist and need addressed

dwna1a:

Not "can't" provide blueprints...but won't.

They cited that "Boats over 5 years old, and off warranty, are off the table for Blue Prints."

They cited "liability issues" by giving owners blueprints, which I don't understand because nobody is blaming them. I just needed some help.

I offered to have my lawyer draft up a "no liability clause" if they'll release the prints. They still refused.

They suggested I try go through the dealer but added "still, there is guarantee that we'll release the prints, even to the dealer".

Thank you for the drawing and info! I don't where you guys get this stuff from, but I'm sure glad I came. It was Sea Ray who recommended I try here!
