Fix photo rotation issue

Just crop your pic a little bit and it will auto rotate.
The whole point of the original post is that we would no longer need to do this, the forum would handle it in their side. Shouldn’t need to go through and modify a batch of photos because the forum software is confused regarding the EXIF data on images.

Sorry, I didn't notice where it was posted.

Exactly. First world problem to be sure, but it's highly irritating.

Yes! As someone who develops forum software I love hearing things like "it should just handle that" Maybe rotate your phone when you shoot the pics :D

I do. There's no "up" or "down" when taking a photo from the user perspective. The device auto rotates the screen, and the OS tags the file with the intended orientation. And plenty of other sites handle the exif data to properly display images without having to futz with cropping or rotating.

I work with software engineers and hear both side of the argument. In this case, I'd tend to agree with the "it should handle that" approach. Plenty of times I've wanted to post a couple photos here to help someone out, and ended up not because of the rotation issue. Everybody here loves posts with photos; heaven help you if one isn't rotated properly.

There's no well in hell I'm moving to Android.

Hopefully this doesn't devolve into an Android vs Apple debate. Personally I've never owned any apple products, because everything they sell has a better and cheaper alternative. And not because I like Android, but it's a lot like voting. Both choices blow, so what's the least worst option that will screw me the least? But hey you're looking at someone who still uses a digital camera. Remember those? :D

I am pretty sure this fix was brought up in the past and didn’t get implemented

This is normal on my phone. Why is it sideways here?

It’s somehow licensed by Yamaha. Same parts don’t know details but somehow it’s Chinese or maybe a Yamaha built in China. Don’t care, it rocks. Merc wants $1100 same hp. Oh hell no.

My intent wasn’t to have a Apple vs Android argument. The fact is that when I moved from a flip phone to a smart phone I didn’t like how the Android OS worked and was very different by how the hardware maker implemented it. I picked Apple, and am now heavily invested in that ecosystem. Within my immediate family we have 4 iPhones, 2 iPads, and an Apple Watch. Everyone in my extended family has made their own choice to use Apple. For me to switch to an Android device would be very painful. I sort of did that with Kindle Fire tables for my kids and I did not like the underlying Android-based OS.

All that said, IDK if the photo rotation issue is due to a quirk of iOS or it’s a more general problem. What I do know is it affects the usability of this site which I love. There seems to be a way to fix it and it would be great if it could be remedied.

Photos posted from mobile phones (iPhones) often come through upside down. Since many photos are stored on phones, this is a frequent issue.

It seems that XexForo may have created a fix for this.

Can this be fixed?

I tried to point to this fix a long time ago...crickets from the admins.
