Don't fall victim to cancel culture. You are not going to make this a perfect world.... Look at what I just went thru and it was boating related :)

Yours was a self inflicted wound and you said you were having fun! :D

We're sorry, you victim card has been declined.

and thats my point..its going to happen no matter what
I agree, but many forums shut it down when it does. Maybe its not a surprise that even this thread is now being politicized by using those inflammatory political words like "cancel culture". That was my original point in trying to keep CSR civil.

I think the current arrangement is workable. The Tiki Bar and the Bilge. And I have availed mys elf of the "Ignore" member option as well.

Think we can tolerate a vigorous debate as long as it doesn't drop to just rude name calling. That's when I use the ignore.
You can tell the real trolls and just ignore them.

That is what prompted me. That thread went sideways fast.

It did, and although I'll shoulder exactly 50% of the blame, I'm not very certain I would do anything different.
An opinion was solicited and a comment was made that IMO, was simply irresponsible and unrealistic. Debatable is whether my initial response was over the top but fire was returned in kind so game on.

I never stooped to ad hominem attacks (as did whom I was conversing with) and kept my responses strictly to what was being posted. I attempted to politely bail by restating my response to the OP's question with no other commentary directed toward anyone or anything only the subject at hand.

Regretfully, someone decided they needed to take another swing. Keeping in mind that that someone also said, to paraphrase "they dont like referees and they were having fun".

Now they are dropping the victim card.

Ya, the Cancel Culture, all the moralizing they do...they'll send Pepe Le Pew into exile but think black chick porn during prime time Grammys while kids might be watching is art at the edge and oh so awesome. :confused:

:mad::mad::mad:

and yet here you are still going on about it...

Well here are two individuals that almost prove the case for giving someone a time out on a forum.

I just took a moment to check their user profiles for "show all content".
I find that both of them have worse than 10:1 ratio of posting just some comment vs a useful comment.
IN MY OPINION..
.

So in order to show that the forum tools available to me are more than adequate;
I do not request these two be censored by the moderators.
But I have just added both to my "ignore list",
bye bye @Blueone and @northshore ...

It's pretty easy on here to avoid the threads or comments that you don't agree with.
Like someone else stated, I don't have Facebook, etc and this forum has helped me tremendously through the years of figuring out how to address certain boating issues.
My suggestion is take it for what it's worth, donate (as you do) to keep the site afloat if you wish and make your own decision on what threads or comments to view.
As my momma always tried to teach me ... choose your "friends" wisely. Man, I wish she was still around and being the voice of reason.

I just scroll right by their nonsense. Easy peesy.

See, this is exactly the civility I am talking about. Wussification? Come on.
Yes, wussification. Omg this place is so "hostel." Give me my safe space and my therapy dog. I guess I come from the "grow a pair" school.

We can have "civil" discussion regarding boats and what not. Sometimes things are taken the wrong way and a "fight" ensues. Eventually, it works its way out. Happed on the 3rd grade playground the same way. BFD.
