Official 2003.5-2008 340 Sundancer Thread

Not sure but heat exchangers are on my list for this winter. There’s a guy in lindenhurst, ny that builds all types of Marine coolers. Stand up guy and his work is excellent. Lenco marine coolers.

Hey guys, quick question. I am getting 4 beeps periodically from the 8.1L Horizons while the engines are running, mostly at lower rpm's. The mechanics haven't been able to replicate it and they aren't seeing anything in the computer logs. Temp and oil pressure are fine, and they checked to make sure the sea water intakes were clean. Anybody have any experience with this particular issue?

I need to replace the Raymarine Ray215 on my 2005 SD. Any suggestions for a similarly-sized VHF radio that will fit in the opening?

IT'S OFFICIAL!
My wife and I are the proud new owners of a, new to us, 2005 340DA 8.1's Vdrives.
lots of minor project to do to make the boat ours but we are really excited to get her home to South Florida.
New name will be Kay-LinSea

First of many questions.

Can someone tell me how to tell if we have the upgraded sound system?
We do not have the big tv on the bulkhead but that is one of my first projects for sure.

Thanks,
Randy

Congrats on the new boat

Very Nice! If you are looking to add the TV on the bulkhead wall take a look at my installation write up for lots of helpful hints.

Kevin has the surrounds that fill the gap for a variety of different radios. I just did a standard horizon 1400 with gps and I’m happy with it.

Thanks for the responses.
I think we have just the standard stereo set up.
Add that to my list.

@kevin, yes, I have already seen your installation write up and plan to do the same.

Haul out this morning for cutlass bearings and wax job then we will take her home to Boca Raton.

We are so happy with our new to us 340DA.
Brought it home to Boca Raton from Cape Canaveral this past weekend.
Cruised at 3300 rpm, 21kts and 29gph. Full of fuel and water.

The ride is better than expected.

I do have a laundry list of items to take care of so looking for some guidance here.

The cabin fridge is not cooling enough for my liking and is quite discolored inside.
SeaRay parts list shows part number 1691311 but has anyone swapped there's out for something better?
I'd like to do this in the next day or so. I appreciate any input.

I also want to replace the galley and head faucets so if you have done this upgrade, please advise on where you purchased your new faucets?
Can I just run to Home Depot and find a faucet there?

any and all input is appreciated.

Thanks,
Randy

Hi Everyone,
Need advice & feedback
I was running the boat yesterday. I was out for a few hours a various RPM's. i was almost home and got the boat up to 3100-3200 RPM's. after about 5-10 mins at that RPM, the port engine shutdown. i mean completely off. gauges stuck at their last position.
i throttled down the stdb engine and started limping home. I tried a few things, but no response.
I then hit the emergency battery cutover and the port engine start switch and the gauges responded and when back to an off position.
I could still not start the engine.

After another 5 mins limping home, i realized that i was still in drive. i put the port engine in neutral and i was then able to get a response when i moved the starter switch to on. However, every time i turned on the port engine, i got a constant alarm.
after another 10 mins, i tried it again and the alarm had cleared so i tried restarting the engine. It started right up, but the temp was at 179. once the engine ran for about 1-2 mins the temp dropped back down quickly to 162 and i went home using both engines around 1500 RPM's

Impellers changed 4 months ago but the port engine water pressure is lower than the stbd engine at all RPM's Pressure at idle is at 1.8. i do not remember the exact RPM's ( i think around 2800), but the stbd engine water pressure was 15ish and the port was 10-11.
I need to pull the sea water pump housing to check but either i chewed through an impeller or the housing is scored badly.

My real question is... is it normal for the gauges to freeze like they did & i thought in guardian mode the engine would simply drop to idle? this engine turned off completely.

Has anyone experienced this ?

I have a 2007 340 Sundancer with twin 8.1 and v drives. My smartcraft is giving a "Pitot Sensor Is Not Working Properly". I cannot find much info on topic. No performance issues, however, the beeping is annoying and eventually stops. Any help? I have read where this model does not even have Pitot's but you need to tell Smartcraft to ignore somehow. This sounds like an electrical problem to me. Freezing the gauges and motor shut off sounds like u lost power to that motor

I swapped my main fridge out with an isotherm, very minor adjustments needs to get the new fridge in. U can swap the galley sink with something from the depot however the sink in the head pulls out for a shower so prob online boating specific for that one

Hi Outobie,
I believe this is the searay part number, 1831205
I would try calling MarineMax parts dept to see if they still carry the part or if they have an equivalent

I replaced mine from a faucet off Amazon and worked out great:
http://www.clubsearay.com/index.php?threads/galley-faucet-replacement-2002-320-ds.85967/#post-967115

Almost any faucet will work in the galley, make sure it is short enough such that the cabin door does not hit.

As for the head faucet, you will need to evaluate your options as the shower head is a pull-out. There are some other options but here you will most likely need to get something marine/rv specific to accommodate the shower head.

Thanks for all the responses.

here’s another question for you.

replaced both impellers due to lack of the boat being used and it’s been several years since last replacement.
Both engines run great however, I get this message from Port engine only.
Smartcraft also shows much

lower water pressure.
Any thought?
