Hi all. I sadly noticed the other day that the Bravo 3 Outdrive was missing from my 250 SLX. I had no idea it was so susceptible to theft, but it seems obvious now. There's a serial number on the transom assembly and I am wondering if that number is somewhere on the outdrive as well. I don't hope for a recovery, but there's always a chance. Meanwhile I'm hoping for the best with insurance coverage! Will definitely be purchasing locking nuts for the next one.

Had that happen to my 270 some 20 years ago... this was in a limited access, fenced storage lot.
Insurance covered it.

wow. unreal

Sorry to hear that. At $7k or so new and $1,500+ used it's easy cash for a thief. I'm surprised we don't hear of this more often. Two guys to easily lift it, remove six bolts and a nut and it's in the wind.

Was at marina a while back, they would for free, remove outdrives from winter storage boats and store inside. Welcome to east Baltimore.
Hey, beats West Baltimore.

Wow, I never have seen this before. Gawd. The length some scrubs will go too. Will make me think twice where I park the boat for any length of time. I am even more surprise by the remote area way up there in Victor. I'd keep an eye on Craiglist for a while now but I suspect where you live, it may be someone who needed to replace a tow up one. Sorry for that.

Wow - where was the boat?
It's in my side parking next to the house. Backed in near the neighbor's fence. In retrospect, it was probably a perfect spot for this (tucked in against the fence, hidden from view. Neighbors not home. On the dark side of my house, sparsely populated etc.). Security cameras arrived today, but that horse is already out of the barn :(. Hopefully they will deter the next thief!

I think you're right. Someone was looking for something very specific! They did do a nice job removing it. Nothing damaged!

Ill bet its someone close by that went by quite a few days and scoped it out before hand. Maybe even same make/model. Do you keep you boat in the driveway or in back area? Not that it matters. I know there are serial numbers on the outdrives just cant remember where. They have a stamp that designates the drive ratio and I think that's embedded in the serial number.

"Bravo drives (1988 to approx 2008), the serial number for the drive is on the port side decal. If the decal is missing, or unreadable, then the number is also stamped into the housing as before, under the decal. The Gimbal housing location remains the same as the Alpha style drives."

Chomos are definitely a sick sad group of low life’s below thieves….. so we have established the low life hierarchy …… now how to get rid of them…. Don’t use California’s solution stealing is legal in stores

The prison hierarchy is a little more complicated. More tiers lol

With tools and other pricey things, it is common for the scum bags to return for the new one once it's replaced by insurance. Have heard that is what they are really after. Hopefully the cameras are up before then and make them think twice.
