If it was 200% more, would it really matter? Boating is an expensive hobby with the fuel cost being only a small piece of the total. Don't let that spoil the fun.

I used to feel that way and for most what you say applies. However when you are at the "fixed income" stage of your life paying $4-$5 a gallon for fuel has a substantial impact on your income. BTW a blowboat is not an option.
Sure - and I relate: on a pension, myself. However, there are options. Try going slow, closer destinations, or as I did, do a bit of part-time work to pay for the fuel and go like you stole it! I agree on blow-boating - been there and that's why I have a powerboat, now.

Jules, agree, not retired yet, but we stay close and spend little in fuel, those days of traveling up and down the bay are done. There is no where to go, where we haven’t been there done that. Kids gone, now we just putt around the river going to bars, food, friend’s waterfront homes. I would like one more weekend in Oxford but looking at $700 fuel and slip. Wife not so easy climb on bow doing lines any more. Will i give it up, hell no. There are ways to boat and not spend a lot.

We live in a cruising paradise on the East side of Vancouver Island. I've spent many, wonderful seasons cruising the San Juan's and Canada's Gulf Islands. Now we live at Comox, very near Desolation Sound and the many Islands nearby and North of us. We haven't begun exploring all of it. We enjoy cruising with other couples and they are very willing to share expenses along with the experiences. Just one more tactic to make the cruising life more affordable.

With Marine Gas heading towards $4+ per gallon..... it is going to have another devastating effect on boating in 2022. The last time the industry faced $4+ per gallon it cratered along with the entire sub-prime loan market. How did we go from $2 a gallon to $4+ in 8 months?

Global oil prices have nothing to do with who is President. Other than domestic taxes on top of the market price of oil, in an open, capitalist country, the market determines the price of oil and gasoline. The US is supposedly very near to oil self sufficiency. So current prices are entirely caused by the oil companies themselves. And that is because, in a capitalist country, supply and demand dictates pricing. The US is not the only place paying higher prices for oil, and being self sufficient, has nothing to do with European or Asian oil prices. Companies can ship and or financially trade oil to whatever is the most advantageous market. That is why global prices move in tandem. So if it makes you feel better to blame Biden, then make yourself happy by lying to yourself. Here are a few global snapshots:

He is a walking disaster and most of my liberal friends believe he is doing a terrible job on immigration, Afghanistan, the China Virus and oil. Remember he cancelled the Keystone pipeline and has shifted reliance away from US petroleum resources back to the Middle East.

I don't know you and the facts support that Baltimore, LA, San Francisco, NYC, Portland and Chicago are all dem run cities and crime is far worse there than in GOP led cities. You can quote all the crap on the internet but it is the dem leadership of defunding the police, not prosecuting criminals and letting people steal whatever they want that creates the cesspool. Yes I support the Police and yes I want to prosecute criminals to the fullest extent of the law.
Make the effort to talk to people in those cities not someone you don't know who wrote something on the internet. Better yet, make a trip to one of those cities and walk around at night.
