Question:
Is it safe to install and use the following Battery Bank in the engine compartment of our SD260 (gasoline engine):
BLUETTI Portable Power Station AC200MAX, 2048Wh LiFePO4 Battery Backup
I can't find anything that indicates that it's ignition protected, alternative is to install it in the rear berth that we currently use for storage. I removed my Kohler generator, finally! I'm planning to wire in place of my generator. No need to comment on the utility of this vs. generator. I have already tested it via my shore hook-up and (for us) it was perfect for 2 nights 'on the hook.'
Thanks all!

Not in the engine room or bilge of a gasoline powered vessel. Rear birth is acceptable or maybe under one of the couches.

My thoughts as well but can you point me to an answer somewhere on the web, other than your input. Is this your opinion or have you ever sent this anywhere. I have been searching for 2 days and haven’t found it address literally anywhere!

Definition (ignition protection) - ABYC E-11.4.15
Requirement - ABYC E-11.5.1.3

Unless it is specified ABYC compliant, it isn’t. Unit has no electrical listing that I could find on their website (ABYC, UL cUL CSA). Unit doesn’t belong in the engine compartment of a gas boat. Rear birth is fine.

Looks like a nice unit though. Certainly enough power to run the coffee pot or Microwave.

Are you planning to charge it with solar? If there is any charging data, post it up. I’d like to see what kind of real world performance you get.

At this stage I'm planning to charge off my alternator when running and Shore Power when in a slip. I keep my boat in our slip April-October (Annapolis, MD.) We are very fortunate to have a boat slip in our community. With respect to solar charging, I designed a solid custom hardtop that will incorporate solar panels; it will be relatively lightweight (possibly carbon fiber) and will attach to the SD260 Spoiler. I designed it to look like the hardtop of the 350. To be clear, this is just in the design phase (on paper); I'll ultimately need to find someone to construct it, as well as the project funds... i.e., not a high priority project on my current 'to do list.'
