I’m replacing the water heater in my 2000 410 Sundancer. Im looking at the Kuuma 11 gallon to replace the original 8.5 gal Seawater unit. Im looking for feedback to see if one brand is favored over another.

We had our 500 for almost 20 years. We put a Kuuma in when we bought the boat and replaced it again with a Kuuma 15 years later. Bottom of tank rotted out, I think we had so sediment our water that's what did it. My guess is if we flushed it every few years, the original would still be working.

The Kuuma 11 gallon was a drop-in replacement for me. Going on season three, zero issues.

I wonder if that Seawater 8.5 gallon would have been original for your boat though? I thought we all had 11 gallon units? My stock heater was an Atwood...

The date on it was 1998 so it had to be original from Sea Ray. it is defiantly marked 8.5 gal. I bought the Kuuma.

For the past few seasons I really thought about replacing my water heater but then I realized I never really missed it. Maybe if I have an extra $600 laying around I’ll replace it but for now I decided to yank it and save some weight. Pretty nasty as you can see. Looks like most folks like Kuuma.

My local boat supply store bought the left over parts from Sea Ray when they closed down in Florida. They had this NOS Atwood for $150 bucks!
