Trying to figure out how odd the wife and I are.

my boat has two large amps mounted behind the electrical panel. I’ve been going through the boat and removing things I don’t use. The wife and I rarely listen to the radio and when we do it’s at low volume. So I’m thinking about removing the cabin amp and just powering those speakers from the internal amp on the stereo.

I’ll leave the cockpit amp because I might actually play some loud music out there occasionally.

Is this something that would deter a future buyer? I would leave the support wiring to add it back so the boat wouldn’t have to be rewired. Should I even care about that future guy and just do what suits me?

Depending on how old the stereo and speakers are you may be doing the next owner a favor. Otherwise yes to your question, I would leave it a lone.

Amps aren't just to be loud you will lose depth in the sound that will be flat and poorer overall quality especially at low volume.

It’s an old Jensen amp, so not exactly a great amp to begin with.

At the end of the day it's your boat, do as you like. If a stereo is going to change the mid of someone wanting 2010 390, that might be blessing in disguise.

I can't answer as to your relative oddity, but as for the amps, I'd prolly just rip them out. It might lower the boat's future sales price by 43 cents.

<rant>I know a number of boats in my area I'd like to rip the amps out of. Or maybe just rip out the idiot that thinks everyone within two miles is impressed by their taste in music.</rant>
