I put in the 6.5" coaxials earlier this year along with matching sub. I was very happy with them. I also upgraded the factory amp to a higher wattage Clarion version.
The subwoofer is supposed to be mounted in an enclosure withc would help the bass but it still sounds pretty good. I painted the grilles to better match the cockpit.
Most of the time just changing the speakers will amaze you.
PS I did have to sand the openings slightly with a sanding drum to open them up a bit. The Polk's were a hair larger in diameter. (And I did re seal the edges of the wood with some 5200!)
I hit a Circuit City store after work. Our local store reduced their speakers to 50% off, just today....so I picked up 2 pairs of the Polk DB651.....$50 per pair... I will use these to replace the cockpit speakers.
Hey I see this post is back in conversation. If ya read this Bottomline I chose the Momo's because I believe they could handle a little more power and I liked the design of the grilles. Now I see they have new speakers that look even cooler! DAMN!
You have a little age on those speakers....go ahead and upgrade....get the new MOMO's:grin::grin:
Hey sure! Wanna buy my old ones???
I have been looking the Polk's as well. On a side note when you guys are replacing the stock speakers, are you running new speaker wire or using the existing wire?
