Has anyone had the opportunity to use Shurholds new Orbital Polisher. Any feedback would be appreciated. :smt001

Just purchased a Shurhold buffer .. Numerous folks around here have used them and really like it. Also planning on using their "Buff magic" and 'Pro polish" this spring. Getting anxious!!! Good videos out there on internet land.

The difference in your gel coat will be night and day with a rotary buffer vs the orbital. Buff Magic is made to be used with a rotary. The orbital will work "ok" but you will not get near the shine that you would otherwise.

Orbitals are perfect for applying the wax to the boat after it is buffed out though!

Bought one this year, used it to apply both buff magic and pro polish on the hull, I prefer it over the rotary buffer that I have used for the last six years. The topsides are next after I rebed the hatches.

ok here's a link to what i saw used by pros and it is faster than anything else with superior shine anhttp://www.autogeek.net/cyclo-polishers.htmld no swirl marks.

I used it 2 weeks ago on the hull and topsides of my boat and loved it. It's lightweight and comes with different handles so you can choose whichever you prefer. It's easy to use and delivers a great shine without burns or swirls. It has a 20 foot cord and comes in a carrying bag with all the tool it needs. I used Shurhold's Buff Magic and Pro Polish with it and my boat is shining like new....I'd highly recommend this buffer.

I looked at some reviews online regarding the Cyclo and although it get good reviews for results, some indicated that it is awkward to use and very heavy. I just purchased the Flex orbital buffer from Autogeek and I can't wait to use it. It is expensive but gets better reviews than some others.

Its made in Germany, its got to be good, right?

I have a one year old Porter Cable Orbital for sale if anyone is interested. PM me.

What would you suggest for applying a polish?

a gf,or two!

A guy who was the service manager at Sail/Ski told me that rotary will blow orbital away. I bring it up bc I was bragging about my porter cable. I may need to pay him $200 to detail my boat.

Hi all. I'm Barry from Shurhold and wanted to take a moment to join the conversation and answer some items that I saw pop up in this thread.

1. "Rotary will do a better job that Shurhold's Dual Action Polisher" Yes and No. Yes if your boat is heavily oxidized you will need the extra power of a rotary. But be careful or hire a pro to do it. Rotary takes skill to keep from burning or swirling your finish. The Dual Action Polisher is perfect for light to no oxidation, which is what most of us deal with on our boats. The unique random action will protect your finish from the pitfalls of a rotary. Please do not confuse our unit with those cheap two handed units (orbitals) our unit has a forced random movement with a 6 speed high power motor.

2. "Buff Magic is made to be used with a rotary" Yes, but is was also design to be used by hand and with our Dual Action Polisher in conjunction with the special Buff Magic Pad. Buff Magic will remove your oxidation, polish your metals and even restore you headlights on your truck.

Please feel free to ask us any question you have directly at:

Hope this was helpful.

Happy Boating!

Nothing new. New and shiney boat = okay for Shurhold/PC psuedo polishers. Older/Oxidized boat= rotary.

I would not bother with the psuedo polishers, get a rotary, use low RPM's and you will never look back.

What is the difference between the Flex Orbital and the Porter Cable? Thanks

The Flex is a true dual action machine where the Porter Cable, although some refer to it as a D/A, is more of an orbital. The Flex has a relatively long throw to the action and you have to use it on a lower speed than the Porter Cable. The Flex actually can do both jobs, rotary polisher and orbital. I've had the Flex for two years and I like the solid feel it has, without being too heavy. A nice bale handle on it as well.

Very good explaination. I can't wait to try it out. The shrinkwrap comes off tomorrow.
