Advice for new members

All new members should take a few minutes to update their About Me information under My Profile. I just did and I think it is a great way to learn more about fellow CSR members.

Hi, how do you insert a photo of boat and signature information so that it will appear with all of your posts??

Hi everyone,

I'm a new member too and not sure if I am posting in the correct place, if not, sorry:) My husband and I are new owners of a 2006 340 Dancer and I was wondering if anyone knows a good place to buy the outside canvas snap-on covers that cover the windshield and vinyl to keep the boat cooler when moored please? Any help much appreciated and thanks in advance!

Hi billnpat,

Thanks for the welcome and the tip! Didn't think of that:)

I recommend you contact Great Lakes Canvas and ask for price on a mooring cover. I paid about $800 form my cover. The only down side is you have to install your own snaps, or pay someone to install the snaps... Here's a pic of cover:

Thanks, may just do that. We recently bought new windsheild vinyl and aft curtain (not from Grate Lakes direct) which we had to install the snaps on so we're getting used to that job:)

I have a 1988 Sea Ray 230 weekender with a rotted transom the boat is in otherwise great shape! looking to see if anyone is looking for parts and a trailer. our baby must go to the dump soon and feel real bad if we couldn't salvage any of the hard work we put into it.

If you don't have an answer to someone's question/issue rather than posting "I think it kinda might be" sit it out and let someone more qualified/been there before answer the question - we are very fortunate to have several great people in our community - also dont be afraid to PM a member for specific info or more detail on a topic that is hard to cover in this format.

Maybe I should have read this thread before I started having diarrhea of the fingers with some of my so called help.

Support the site at least as a Silver Sponsor. You will be getting much more than $25 dollars worth of advice. And, no, I'm not a dealer, site promotor, or Club Sea Ray corporate insider (that memory thing).

Done.

I get concerned about the quality of answers and fixes we see from time to time.

Don't guess at a fix unless you carefully state that you do not know the answer, but you are guessing it might be........." Please understand that these responses are only helpful when another CSR member does not contribute an answer that is on point.

Don't be afraid to "sit one out" if you are not sure you know what you are talking about.

If you don't have a Sea Ray or you haven't owned one in several years, refrain from answering Sea Ray specific questions pertaining to boats later than your experience. How 4 Winns, Chapparel, Tiara, Cruisers etc does it is not material when a Sea Ray owner needs help fixing his boat.

You should use the "search" facility to find answers before posting. Posting lengthly answers to complicated questions is tedious and after doing it several times, most of us grow weary and will just tell you to search the site anyway.

I must increase your level of concern.

I busted on the CSR scene like a bull in a china shop. Airing dirty laundry, getting drawn into discussions which were fit for a two year old. Hey, nobody's perfect.

My best advice, don't drink and post.

We should be respectful of each other, remember we are brothers and sisters here on the forum.

Add yourself to the Members Map found under Site Navigation on the right side of the screen. Great way to find other Sea Ray owners and boating enthusiasts in your area.
Where is the Member map? I can’t seem to find it. As my wife says I can’t find anything.

Found your post in the newbies area. Is there still an owner map? I don't see a site map, nor a place with a map of members... but I thought that would be really cool!
