Official 240 Sundancer Thread

I live in Pensacola also! I've got an '04 but it looks like you have a pretty standard layout in your bilge (I agree, its a bit dirty in there). Is that sea grass in there? I hope the engine bay didn't get flooded. Did he forget to put the bilge plug in one time?

-Your outdrive looks pretty good, I'm wondering if they painted the fin because I don't see any streaks from touching sand or bottom. Zinc anodes look ok except for the steering rod anodes...but that might be the picture. If you need new ones, here's where I get mine. I think these might fit your boat as well, but double check first. http://www.boatzincs.com/mercruiser-aluminum.html

-Check for rust and corrosion all around the engine- especially the manifolds and the two bow-side blue drain plugs. I've recently had to replace my manifolds and ended up putting in a one piece stainless set. I followed the Mercruiser manual and flushed then drained with freshwater every time. Bad idea, because sure enough after a while my entire transom assembly had to be fixed too. I'm now using Salt-Away and letting it sit/soak the engine cooling lines between uses. No problems.

-Check both bilge pumps, also. One in the engine bay and one below the garbage can under the stair in the cabin. That is your shower drain bilge pump (which also has a filter in the white plastic box) and it might have your a/c filtering through as well. Ensure they function.

-Make sure the cabin door locks (and stays latched when underway! Mine slides open all the time) :smt013

Good luck! Where are you buying it from in town?
Wow. Thanks for the great info... I am buying from Navarre. I hope to have the sea trial this weekend. I need to be able to trailer the boat that I get but not being able to run the AC when camping kinda negates the reason to have the AC and sleeping quarters. I have read pros and cons on the generator and I may go the propane adapter rout and always run it outside the cabin and have extra CO detectors. I'm afraid that if I go any bigger, my 2000 yukon will not pull it.

LED Anchor light replacement bulb

After much research, I think I have found a good LED bulb replacement for my 2006 240DA's incandescent anchor light bulb, which is listed as an ML906.

The ML 906 is an incandescent, 75 lumens (6 candle power), 2800 degree Kelvin (color temperature), T5 wedge base, 12-13.5 volt, .69 amp (9.3 watts), approximately .59" diameter and 1.32" in height.

The LED replacement is a 15 SMD, 89 Lumens (compares to 13 watt incandescent), warm white (3200 degrees kelvin) T10 wedge base tower 12-24 volt, .11 amps (1.3 watts), approximately .47" in diameter and 1.55" in height. It is advertised as having no electromagnetic interference and a 2 year warranty. Item ID is Lt10115ww.

I purchased the bulb from SailorSams.com, it was on sale for $3.95 with $7.74 in shipping, for a total of $11.69.

It was a bit difficult to get seated into the socket (the plastic wedge is a bit thicker then the glass bulb's) but once carefully inserted it works fine and is slightly brighter than the ML906. Your mileage may vary.

Thought this might help some of you out. This forum is a great resource, thank you all.

Hey Guys.

Been awhile hope all is well. As most of you know I lost my boat (2006 240DA)during hurricane sandy but still have many things that Searay sent over (Brand New) including the rear compartment cushions (2 Pads). I have a brand new set of these. Let me know if anybody is interested in them as I am starting to clean up my basement and forget I had all this stuff. Including Shower Bilge Pump that goes under the stair by the hatch. Also have some other misc stuff like the bimini covers and bag (blue) and the entire camper covers. If not its just going to get thrown out!

Regards

Hey Alvin,

Would you mind PM'ing me your email address? I am definitely interested in the bimini cover and bag as well as the camper cover for my 2010 240.

Aside from that, how have you been? When I first got my 240 I read through a lot of your posts. If I remember correctly, you went through a lot to get your boat working properly only to lose it to Sandy. How have you been, and are you still looking for another boat?

Yeah it was a nightmare to get the boat basically into brand new condition just to have the darn superstorm total it. Now I have all this stuff. Don't want to dumpster it for sure. Hoping to stay in the family in a bigger boat either this year or next so we shall see.

I am looking to replace the closing cylinder on my rear cockpit floor hatch? I would like to get one that is a slow close. Has anyone made that mod? I assume you need one that is the correct weight range of the hatch and proper length / ends ect.

Any info would be great.

Thanks!

Would love the shower bilge pump.if it will fit in a 2000 and is still available.

I have an older Samsung tablet with navionics on it, got this to try out, I do have lowrance gear as well but its under the steering so not in line of sight

Hey SeaJay, great idea mounting the tablet to the support! What are you using to mount the tablet?

taking the plunge into a 240. Any advice before I commit?

Hi everyone. I had a chance to go look at the boat again yesterday. They are, still working in getting it ready for delivery next weekend but here are some pics of some of the hardware that is in the boat. Some of it looks custome installed like a huge aluminum tray that has two 8D batteries mounted directly in front of the engine. Still has the two starting batteries as well. One thing I notices is that it is supposed to have the camper enclosure but it only has one Bimini that only covers from the front of the cockpit to about half way back. Will that still allow for the camper cover to work properly. I did not find any additional support brackets. If it needs anything extra,I'd like to tell them to ask the seller if he still has them as the boat was just traded last week. It is a 2007 model that is going for 28,500.00. She looks a little rough but maybe you can see if there are any tell tell signs of problems from the pics before I make the commitment. http://s66.photobucket.com/user/emckissack/library/2007 Searay 240

looks good Eric, obviously the engine compartment needs a good clean up. There should be a rear bimini section for the camper if its like my 2000 model, yours has aircon, big plus in summer.
