What about those of us who tow to the water? Lets see your tow rigs.

I love my 05 Yukon Denali. I have thought of trading it a hundred times but it does exactly what I need it to do. All in all the only downside is the fuel mileage but it sure beats the cost of a new one. The last pic is a diesel BMW X5 we bought my wife in February. It will tow 6000 lbs easily, has air ride and a ton of options.

1stclass, that is one awesome whaler.

My wife's RX with a factory two package. Towed the 185 out to Lake Tillery when I bought it, then once a year to/from the ramp about 3mi away - don't think the Lexus was too happy about that:

When I moved the boat to Lake Norman, I decided to rent something a little better:

Now I have a little different tow vehicle:

2007 chevy 3500 flatbed dually. my work truck/boat puller. Allison/duramax combo. This thing feels like it could pull anything. Almost 10yrs old and only 44k miles.

I'm pulling with a 2014 1500 Silverado LTZ - (good thing there are not many hills here in Fla, I'm at about my limit) But the two go together nicely.

What engine? My father in law has a 2015 2500hd with the vortec and it's a gutless pig. I wouldn't use it to pull my finger if I had to fart as it might not get the job done.

we pull our 260 DA with our 2005 Tahoe w/ 4.8L with trailer towing package (which makes a big difference). the Tahoe is nearing 300K miles and no issues trailering (even w/o 4-wheel drive). We mainly tow to a lake near our house but have no concerns with going further. Have had a couple of challenging take-outs if we miss the tide (at the coast). North Carolina has some nice ramps but some are covered with sea weed at low tide. The 3-axle trailer is overkill but the extra axle helps balance the weight and braking. Key is to keep trailer bearings and brakes serviced. Doubt we will be moving up to trailering anything larger than this; it's do-able but it's a heck of a lot of work (compared to tie-ing up and heading home).

Just brought my 89 300DA home on her brand new 2017 Venture triple axle trailer pulled by my 2011 F250 PSD 4x4 CC. Handled great, I was impressed at how well it behaved.1225.jpg1240.jpg1246.jpg1211.jpg

Much better than the 2003 Chevy Avalanche 1500 ever did.

Do you know what the weight of the boat and trailer are as you normally tow?
I estimated about 10,000#. Not going to be more than that, but not much less. Depends a lot on the load out of the boat and fuel/water levels. We typically tow with 7/8 full of gas and everything on the boat.

Just a baby boat compared to some of you, but my Explorer Sport gets the job done nicely.

2015 Chevrolet Colorado WT. 2.5L 4 Cylinder/6 Speed Manual/4.10 rear end.

Trifecta tuned, MBRP Cat-Back exhaust coming. Tows like a beast. I'm a bit over the 3,500 limit for my config - but the Colorado is rated to tow 7,800 with other powertrains. Aside from long mountain pulls at elevation, it never feels stressed. Boat + fuel + Gear + trailer is about 4,000.
