View attachment 45693Hello...we went for a quick ride on this boat this past weekend. and we are going to be buying it next weekend. The only information we were given though is that it is a 79 28 foot sea ray. Could anyone here be able to identify it better than that? and do i call it a sedan bridge since it is a hard top? I texted the seller to send me the Hull number....hopefully he will send it to us soon and shed a little bit of light on the subject. also...would anyone consider this size vessel sea worthy to go out fishing off of the texas coast around port oconnor?

Probably she was built in 1978 as a 1979 model year boat, not uncommon to see that in cars and trucks also. Production date is usually earlier than model year.

Thank you!!

Hi all,
We just bought a 1988 Searay 340. Already have a 1979 260 sundancer, trying to decide whether to keep 260 or sell.
I have many questions about this boat, the 340.
I would like to join this club as I think I have spent enough at this time. Fairly certain that annual dues will be exceeded.
By the way my admiral is the one who found and purchased. Currently shopping for windlass.

Congrats on the 340!
Eventually you will probably have to submit receipts to the Grand Poobah of the Hole In The Water Club and that would be Jim.
Luckily he also is dumping money in to 340 of our vintage.
If you are looking for info on your 340, here is the thread

Thanks for the info. Just this season we are into it for a bit over 6K. Installed a new windlass, new nav system, replaced a bearing on shaft and other misc. stuff.
I will add pictures as I get them.

Just posted a new thread in this forum...

But this thread looked interesting. And quite appropriate!

Just bought a 1969 SRV 185 for a couple hundred bucks. Boat is solid but filthy. Engine fires. No seats. Teak, instruments, steering wheel can be restored. Needs all new interior, new wiring, and who knows what else. But I needed a hobby. First boat I've ever owned, but I was the mechanic on a boat racing team in the past, so there is nothing on a boat I can't repair myself.

Only cost will be parts and materials (that started already - blew both of the vintage tires on the trailer on the two hour haul home - had to buy a second spare after the first blew and left me with no spare!)

Should be fun.
