I just bought a handheld spotlight and after the 1st charge is was dead. I returned it for a refund.
I'm looking for a recommendation.
Thanks
Art

I keep a spare Dewalt 20v Lithium-Ion charger, battery, drill, spotlight & area light on the boat. The handheld spotlight is brighter than the one installed on the boat.

I have a streamlight waypoint led. I am VERY impressed. This thing is awesome!

I have the waypoint LED. It is rechargeable and it comes with the 12v and 110v plug so you can still use it if its dead. I love the size as well.

I just pick up whatever 12V rechargeable light is on sale at our local Ace Hardware when I need one. They're usually somewhere between $20-$30, they're good for 2-3 years and when they die I just pitch them and get another. I leave it on the helm 100% of the time and that may be why they only last a couple of years. It's such a cheap item that I don't really care how long it lasts.

I have been looking at these... Someone else said they are great for being out on the water for compact reasons, rechargeable 18650s (that is only nice due to the fact that I vape cuz i quit smoking so I always have an extra 1860) and bright beam that isn't really wide so you don't blind your self off your boat..

Haven't bought one yet but was caught out on the River this past weekend after dark... I had a tiny little guy. A barge basically did the lighting for me with his 2 big ass spot lights.

I hope you are not saying you are navigating at night with a spot light. You should never be running at night with a spot. Let your eyes get accustomed to the low light and go slow. Using a bright light kills your night vision (and any other boaters you shine it at). The only time you should use a spot is to pinpoint a nav aid. Apologies if you know that already.

I use an olight mini intimidate 2. Not a spot but an incredibly bright flood. Nice when cruising back channels at night and you want to check out the shoreline

Yeah you are okay. I know that.
I use my flashlight to spot buoys so I don't go where I am not allowed. Once I spot them, I have it off and cruise for a bit more. What happened to me over the weekend is my flashlight was not bright enough or a good enough beam, The barge behind us had his 2 spotlights shined at both sides of the river so we used his help basically than using mine. Those things are bright as hell on those things. LOL
