Official 240 Sundancer Thread

Not sure if you ever got this fixed, but i have a 250DA, fridge only worked on shore pwr too.. brought the only norcold service in my area, onlyl for them to call few days later to tell me they can't fix but wanted to sell me a new one... went and picked it up, started digging, took the control board out and found a bad relay, could not find that relay online, so i used a generic micro 12vdc relay and soldered wires on it, then the wires to the board.. its been working for 3 years.

Great Forum you guys. I'm new to boating and have a chance to get a 2003 245 weekender or a 2003 240 Sundancer. Both seem to be great boats, the 240 is just a bit more money but much cleaner. The 245 seems to have a broken hour gauge, stuck on 117 hours and I'm trying to find out WHEN it was broken. The 240 has about 282 hours and seems to have everything the Wife Unit wants. Either one will be kept in dry dock in Stuart Florida. I passed the Florida Boating Course, but will still need a lot of learning. I have read all the pages in this forum, and WOW is there knowledge to be had. I have learned so much about boating and boats in general from here. Any helpful hints would be appreciated.

roberteb, I had similar issue on my boat (a 2006 240DA). See my post: I bet no one has (or very few have) seen this before...

The water would leak down and saturate the v-berth starboard seatback at the aft, bottom and the seat cushion. I was sure the only place water could be coming in from was the rub rail. I removed, sealed and reinstalled the whole starboard rub-rail 3 times and still no luck. I even epoxied the holes and drilled new ones. Very frustrating, I spent a lot of time and every method I could think of to locate where the leak started on the outside, smoke, bubbles, dye, air pressure, all to no avail. Finally, I ended up sealing the hole in the fiberglass on the INSIDE in two places where the water seemed to be wicking through voids in the hull and so far, no more leak. At least none that are visible.

I know that really wasn't the proper way to correct the problem but I was desperate to stop the water from ruining my interior.

Hope you are more successful in your quest than I was.

Stroh, thanks for sharing your post.

Although purchased my x-hand 2004 boat last year, received full year warranty :) My dealer will fix it (hopefully) and will share his feedback.

The leakage is different, as is above the hull-deck joined. But based on your pictures, very strange its leaking through the polyester.. At least you were able to stop it.

Yes, I have a 2004 240DA with the exact same stain and marks on top of the interior counsole when it leaks.... On mine over time I also get a small stain in the top roof to the left as you enter the cuddy... So in you picture on mine it's one of the screws holding the windshield down. I have not got mine completely flixed yet. I use a bissell once a year to suck any staining out.

I just got a 1977 240 sda with twin 470's and will be cleaning her up and looking for missing or broken parts. This is my first large boat, I also have a 88 bayliner 1750 cuddy with a 60hp yamaha ,I am looking forward to doing overnights in her and doing some fishing.

Hey Guys.

Been awhile hope all is well. As most of you know I lost my boat (2006 240DA)during hurricane sandy but still have many things that Searay sent over (Brand New) including the rear compartment cushions (2 Pads). I have a brand new set of these. Let me know if anybody is interested in them as I am starting to clean up my basement and forget I had all this stuff. Including Shower Bilge Pump that goes under the stair by the hatch. Also have some other misc stuff like the bimini covers and bag (blue) and the entire camper covers. If not its just going to get thrown out!

Regards

Sorry about your loss a boat is almost like a member of the family. I just bought my first Sea Ray and it is a 1977 240 Sda with twin 470's. I'm going to clean her up so she is like new and I'm not sure if any of the stuff you have will fit it, if so I could use a cover to protect her. Please let me know what you think. Again sorry about your loss.

Just bought an 07 240 Sundancer and I have been looking to add a rear Bimini. What are my options? Also if I I need to be searching a different forum, let me know.

Thanks

Here's my 240 with both front & rear Bimini tops.

They zip together and with both you can also have the camper canvas. Sorry I can't help you with sourcing the Bimini. You may have to get dimensions & have the frame built & get the canvas from http://www.greatlakesboattop.com/ or another supplier.

All 240'ers,

I am just diving in here. We picked up a 2002 240DA this summer and I can confidently say that it made our summer!
Anyone looking to install air conditioning, power inverter, LCD TV, DVD, or XM radio, I can at least offer some pearls of wisdom on what we did.
Looking forward to getting to meet more 240 owners here.

Life is better when boating,

Jim

I have an 07'and was looking for the same thing, the rear Bimini. After looking at the cost for an OEM one, 400.00 for just the camper top fabric from Great Lakes. I ended up getting a generic one off eBay with frame and all for 150 and customized it to fit. It does not look the best to a trained eye but it gets the job done.

Hi Joel,

Sorry for my late reply. But understand from my dealer that was due to window screws. They fixed and were able to remove the stain very well

Hello all - just bought a 2007 240 Sundancer and will be picking it up Monday and heading to the lake. I have a ton of questions and know I will have more once I get used to it. My first question is I will be taking it out in San Francisco Bay in October for strgeon fishing and was wondering what class the boat is listed as. Is this boat able to go past the golden gate?

G'day all,
I have a 2003 240 sundancer and i was just wondering if anyone else has had trouble with the switch pad that controls all of the minor functions like bilge pump, lights etc. Since I'm located in Australia i'm finding it hard to track down a replacement. Anyone point me in the right direction, are these parts still available in america and if so where?
Cheers Chris

If your still chasing a fix for this you can convert to carling switches with a kit from FP Marine, look on the link of my previous post

Hi Jim,I am looking at a 3000 watt inverter https://www.windynation.com/jzv/prod?itemId=5305 I am adding a 3rd battery #27 what do you think?

AC inverters really suck your 12v battery, and if your trying to run a 3500w air con the drain would be massive. Have a talk to some experts to see if your inverter would even run a air con, and for how long before spending your $
