Official 19SPX/21SPX/SPX190/SPX210 Thread

I have a 2015 spx19 that a crack in the gel coat where the swim platform and transom meet at the walk through just wondering if anyone else has had this issue
thanks gerald

I've noticed a crack in my gelcoat on the ski locker door as well as the floor of the boat on the port side of the ski locker door. Will have the dealer look at it when I take it in to winterize I suppose.

Does anyone have the mooring cover for 21 SPX? Any way you could post a picture? I currently have the bow and cockpit covers that came with my boat but was thinking about getting the mooring cover, I think it might be more appropriate for the amount of towing I do. I like the fact that the mooring covers typically cover the boat all the way to the rub rail. If you do have the mooring cover is it more of a nylon material than the canvas that is the bow and cockpit cover?

My buddy and slip neighbor has the 19SPX with a mooring cover. I'm headed up to the lake in a few hours and will take some pics (unless he beats me to the lake and has his boat out!!).

I have cracks in the gel coat on the lower left corner where the swim platform meets the gunwal on the left side of the walkway through the transome. I am going to get some pics to my dealer and see if they can repair in the fall once I am done with the boat for the season.

Second Service bulletin issued on my year old boat. First outdrive was mounted too low and now it appears that the bilge pump is not hard wired to the battery. I love my boat but to be honest this, on top of some other issues, has led me to believe that if this was my first Searay, it may have been my last. Back to basics SeaRay. The customer buying this boat might be the 650 Fly owner someday.

I'll have to check mine next time I'm out. Jeremy, have you put down the additional SeaDek yet?

Yes, I put it on a week and half ago and then went on Vacation with the boat to Canada. Put 25hrs on it skiing, tubing and cruising the Niagara river. I really like the extra Seadek pieces. Fix was good. Thanks for getting the patterns made.

Nothing too special, but swapped out the prop beat up by the previous owner (in 9 hours!) for a new Mercury Blackmax. Took all of 5 minutes and $150, not sure of the performance change, but it sure looks a lot better.

Now that that's fixed, I need to learn how to patch gelcoat after some d-bag decided to tattoo my swim platform with his bow eye (docked at a restaurant last weekend), 4 chips down to glass.

That's sucks about your swim platform. I would have lost my mind.

Yeah, the boat was an 30+ year old bowrider, torn up and the glass was replaced with plywood. I figured the likely outcome of tracking down the owner wasn't worth it... not sure I could have held back my wife.

Got started on the audio upgrade to the base system tonight. Step 1, add bow speakers. I decided to grab another pair of Rockford Fosgate 6.5" Coax RM0652 to match the factory cockpit speakers. (FYI, a seller on ebay accepted my offer of $75 w/ free shipping for a new set) Other than tools and tape, nothing else was required as Sea Ray was nice enough to include the upgrade prewiring connected to the stock head unit, including standard female spade terminals. Taped them off, found the center, drew a circle, cut em out, and screwed them in. (make sure you use a shop vac for dust control)

Very worthwhile 1-2 hour, $75 upgrade for anyone with the base 2 speaker system.

Excuse the poor pics, getting dark by the time I finished up.

I've got a 2016 21 spx that we just love but I think I've a problem with the bilge pump. When I flip the switch I don't hear any pump noise and there's no discharge. However after a couple of days on the lake when I remove the plug plenty of water drains. The bilge area in the engine compartment is dry all the time however. Am I missing something or do I have an issue?

Looks great!

Sorry that happened - some people just don't get it...

Get a Spectrum patch kit and follow the instructions. It's a little daunting the first time, but some new gelcoat, wet sanding and polishing and that will be good as new. I have fixed a few spots on my boat and I can't even find them now.

I believe there is a float switch in series with the switch and pump that controls the pump when switched on. Since your engine room is dry, it's not enough to kick on the bilge pump. Guessing the water your seeing from the plug is shifting from further up in the hull when you pull it up on the trailer.

Thanks for the recommendation. I reached out to them to confirm the correct color.

Great I had thought that was the case, but glad to have it validated.

I have the same thing with my 2017 19SPX. Also the bilge pump sits up approx 1/2" from the bottom of the hull. I'll have the kids, tubes, etc coming in and out. Flip the bilge on manually prior to taking the boat off and get nothing coming out. Pull it out and get a gallon or two of water coming out. I also noticed there there is no lip to keep water out of the ski locker so make sure you pull that plug too at the end of the day!

Wheres the pics? ;)

Boatbuckles (retractable transom tie downs) went on today, relatively easy one bolt each install on the stock trailer, and pretty nifty setup if anyone's been considering it. Basically, an auto retracting tie down gets bolted to the trailer and stays on the trailer when your boat is in the water. Does bug me a little that they are not level since they need to point directly at the transom eyes.

Also started the ambient LED aftermarket retrofit. Installed the port run along the "convertible" bench seat. Pics are during the day and with a 9V battery for testing, but I'm pleasantly surprised at how well it turned out. LED strip is cut to length and was only $8 for 16' including prime shipping!

Never was so evident how much I need to do the port seat support mod as when i was sitting on it trying to get the hidden screws out, must have flexed an inch+.
