Wrong props installed update.

Searay has published test results for their boats and my boat does perform close to the range. My issue is more getting what was paid for and I think the boat will perform a bit better. If they come up with docs that show what they delivered matches the order then oh well... I just know that other boats that I run with are equipped with the same engine and drive units and they get better mileage at same power settings as I do and have the specified props.

Which boats and engines are you comparing to?

Seems to me as the second owner of the boat you got what you paid for. Caveat emptor, Carpediem.

No argument there Jim T for sure. I had my chance to determine how the boat was equipped and having purchased multiple boats over the years I should have been more proactive and researched the equipment better. Lesson Learned. However, if Searay did install the wrong props and having that brought to their attention, they would like to correct the over sight I see no harm in asking. That would in my opinion further demonstrate the quality and integrity of the Searay brand.

I don't get the name calling .... That's never happened before on here and not called for at all. They guy has an issue and he's looking for suggestions and help. So either u add to the conversation or simply don't post . Everyone feels they can blurt crap out .... It really makes u look silly .

Anyway back to the point of the post . a previous searay had all the wrong batteries installed on the boat . The batteries were dealer installed. 2 years after a battery failed it came to light the wrong ones were installed. Dealer wanted no part in changing 6 batteries. I wont name the SEARAY DELAERSHIP In Lindenhurst But a call to Searay got it taken care of. So it never hurts to give a call especially if u have the proof which it sounds like u do.

All the best

Rob

Edit...deleting my comment and staying out of this.

So 6 batteries got installed incorrectly and searay picked up the the tab for the correction.. So tell me what this has to do with this second owner of this boat, looking for a new set of props ?

Just a little update, Searay told me to go ahead and source some props and send them the bill and they will see what they can do to help out with some good will bucks. We will see, I'm currently looking around for some good serviceable props 26 in Diameter by 27 inch pitch and we will see what they are willing to do.

Well that's some good news, can't ever hurt to ask, worst they can say is no. I've gotten a couple of things on cars taken care of or at least some $$ help with items that were way out of warranty. I would think with luxury items like boats, especially larger ones, it's important to companies like SeaRay to keep you in the brand. You might not be buying a new boat, but that used boat you are buying could be allowing the seller to buy a new boat - and so on. These aren't Japanese cars that they are selling 10's of thousands of a year - every loyal customer counts.

Well I have a 2013 Ram 1500 with 58,000 miles. I bought it in July 2013 with about 6000 miles on it so I am the 2nd owner. A couple of months ago I noticed a bubble in the paint on the drivers bed side. Went to the dealer and complained but didn't actually expect any help from them. Sure it has a 5 year 100,000 mile corrosion warranty but I have read countless reports of any manufacturer denying corrosion claims. I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask them. Well I just picked it up today from the dealer with a brand new bedside installed and painted. The bill was about $1900 but Dodge covered it. Probably about 95% of owners would have accepted the rust and in a year would have had holes in their truck. No harm in asking. Maybe they will step up and take care of it. Worked for me.

Well after much deliberation and reseach and the recent engine problems a friend is having now, See thread titled 'Sudden Development of engine knocking' Ive decided that whether or not Searay made a mistake in installing the 24/27s on my boat I'm counting myself happy to be running them. I dont know if the QSC 8.3 500HD engines were redesigned with heavier heads than the 8.3 480 CE or not, by running the 24/27s I am running with lower engine loads and likely protecting my engines from over heated heads and dropped valve seats. Kudos to Searay Customer Support for being willing to chip in for props if I wanted them changed, shows what a quality outfit they are. Im sticking with my props and living with the fuel burn.
Thanks for all of the input. Its been an eye opener for sure.
