I have a 1998 400 DA with the Cherry high gloss Vitricore interior. I replaced my master stateroom ac with a new marin air unit that has a different thermostat/control than the OEM smx control pad. The new control is the same size as the power outlets on either side.

I am trying to find a small piece of the cherry veneer that I could use to cover the opening that is left from the larger smx control. I need a piece approx 4" by 9". If anyone has a small piece I could buy, please let me know. Thanks!

I have some pieces that size in 1/40" paper backed teak veneer. It has no finish on it. Some of the Cetol finishes make it a bit amber like cherry. If you get no responses for cherry you are welcome to the teak. I can even include some smaller pieces for you to try different finishes. Let me know.

Happy to ship you a new scrap piece (as long as it is Sovereign Cherry). I need a photo to confirm the finish. Just email me a photo at: John@restorationmarine.com

Thank you John, I will send a photo now. I think Sovereign Cherry is the proper name.

Awesome !

I had to cut a hole in my aft stateroom closet door for the piece I needed and then cover the hole with a mirror...

Well we have been selling the Sea Ray laminate for the build years 1990 to 2002 since 2005 or so.........:)

Anyway, Cruisair used to sell an adapter plate to cover the original SMX hole. You can also make them out of stainless steel.

You didn't have any Birds Eye Maple last winter....

Still don't :(

It's a shame because I really liked the light Bird's Eye finish. Unfortunately it is the only finish from that era that couldn't be reproduced.

fpmarine.com had some really old stock. They don't seem to have any left.

Thank you, I spent 2 weeks in Jan this year trying to find a small piece of scrap for a drawer face.... That's why I had to harvest from my aft stateroom closet door.

If you are still looking for a piece I have several. It was officially called Impressions by Nevamar. They built it in various thicknesses .020-.060 Polycarbonate. I have both the Sovereign Cherry and Maple. The dealership I work for had a ton of it that I purchased as they wanted to clear out old stock. E-mail me if you would like photos or if you would like to buys some. isellsearay@gmail.com

Old thread but i'm in search of a small piece of the attached cherry veneer as well. Looking to build a small drawer to go underneath the TV I've replaced in the forward berth of our 420 DB. Opening is roughly 18"X 6"
