454 Mercruiser w/Bravo III Drive
Good Afternoon,

I have a 2001 270 sundancer with a single mercrusier 454 with bravo III drive and 3 blade duo props. Recently i had a mechanic work on the boat to fix a coil issue that was preventing me from getting on plane due to a miss. Unfortunately when he brought the boat back after he "fixed it" he blew the engine. Now i need to either rebuild the engine or repower it. I like the idea of the repower to get more HP and Torque but not sure what is a realistic replacement option. I have plenty of room in my engine bay so that wont be an issue. what would you recommend? 8.1? 8.2? 502? ......

try Michigan Motors.....they seem to have a good reputation on reman engines - you want a long block - transfer intake/exhaust/accessories over - look at 454 or 496.....motor should be 4k or so and installation 2-3k....

I have seen videos that Michigan Motors put out and i was going to look at them. They are actually the reason i was thinking about that 8.1 because they posted a great video of it and said it is a nice repower for the 454

I also recommend Michigan Motorz, I got two new fully dressed engines from them to replace hydrolocked units and they are great to deal with and have decent pricing and quality engines. Their customer and tech support is also great and they will even spend the time on the phone to help troubleshoot issues.
